Join Pecky and good friend Derek Harrison as they head to France in search of big carp. It’s late October, the leaves are falling and The Aquarium Carp Fishery looks stunning in its autumnal colours.
The 14 acre holiday venue is just 2.5 hours from Calais, and had been set to open during the spring of 2021. However, with Covid travel restrictions present, the lake has remained closed and just lightly fished by friends of the owners.
The brief prior to arrival was that the stock is estimated at around 250 fish, with 14 different 50s and a 60lber. That said, with the full extent of the stock still being discovered, there was an outside chance of catching something unknown which was both really appealing for Pecky & Derek.
True to its name, the water at The Aquarium is crystal clear, and despite the time of year, much of the lakebed is covered in thick weed. Finding the correct spots, and fishing with sturdy tackle the key take aways from their success.
Darrell gets off to a flying start catching a 50lber on the first night, and as the session progresses, adjustments to their spots lead to string of beautiful big carp. In fact, the action becomes so prolific we’ve had no choice, but to make this film part one of a two.
If you’re looking for a new, up and coming holiday venue in France then this video is not to be missed.
