Dravidians haven't been out long

Evelo

I don't even play the game, I just work on it. Your videos always help.
I do suspect Dravidians to really climb that list eventually.

Srikrishna Panchamukhi

So it's clear- Sicilians need a nerf

Mauricio José Osuna

Spaniards, expert settlers? Who'd have guessed!

I always loved Sudden Death on Nomad. It became the go to map & mode for my group

Some ~1300 ELO, frequent Nomad team game player observations:

– Persians can also build a dock, house, tc and still have room for a fishing ship, which is what makes them so good on Nomad. Persian douches are still viable as well, assuming you can find your opponent, you jut need to wait until the treaty runs out.

– Skipping the Feudal Age is very common since it's just too hard to deal real damage unless you're right next to each other. Japanese and Mongols really like fighting in the Feudal Age, which I think is why they don't reach top 10.

– Part of why I think Berbers and Italians are so good is that their unique units are good counters to the Conquistador, which is bloody endemic on this map. Really, I think the Italians' main weakness on nomad isn't their land composition, it's really quite flexible, it's their lack of good siege. With so much stone, castles are everywhere, especially in team games. You generally want to use your castles for Genoese Crossbows, which means you need to really on capped rams or bombard cannons with no siege engineers.

– In my experience the strength of the Vietnamese isn't just in knowing where your enemy is, but in knowing where they're not. You can set your villagers to go hunt, chop wood or mine in a spot you know isn't close to an enemy TC and not worry too much about raiding, especially if you drop a castle on their face to distract them. Rattan archers do okay against the other common unique units on Nomad and are a pretty solid raider. My favorite strategy with them is to go for a fast castle castle drop and send my food villagers to go hunt deer, boar and gather berries at some distant location, letting me save wood from farming for buildings and upgrades for the defensive push.

I need help. I wanna install mods but i literally can't. I logged into xbox live, on the game and web subscribed to the mods but when I go to check in mods area ingame there's nothing. I also can't connect to multiplayer. It's confusing please help me understand.

Is it possible to install and use mods for free?

buildingman

Always fun to see these.

R. Patrick Jenkins

I would love to see a video about how the play rates are effected by these videos. That would be interesting

Faris Azka

i was thinking malay will #1 since her fishing is unlimited

Yuven

i was surprised Vikings wasnt mentioned

RobotShield

I like viet on nomad espesh in team games, wall up FC castle drop the enemy TC and right into rattan which counters archers is very strong. Cav no that big of a threat of you got the walls down.

Old School Fool

I once placed and built a dock and a house as Huns in a ranked nomad game, had to build a lumber camp and chop my way to a TC. Ended up winning that one though. I love this map lol

A Nomad tech on a Nomad map keep you No-mad

You cant handle the truth

YEAH VIVA SPAIN. FINALLY MY FAVOURITE CIV IS ON TOP

Henry Ericson

Hey SOTL, it's important to note that these WR stats shouldnt be relied on heavily when civ picking is a thing. It has the tendency of moving the picked civs towards 50%WR for a variety of reasons. This has been shown to be a phenomenon in a simulated round robin with a fixed win matrix. There's a link to this in the ageofstatistics site's method section.

Personally, I feel constrained playing Koreans, and much more freedom playing Japanese on Nomad. No idea why.

Dravidians team bonus of +5 population from Docks is a game changer in team games, I think if you combine it with Vikings cheaper docks then everyone can get a fishing boat out as if they were Malians or Persians? Not sure actually but that early wood and time saving is nice, and generally you want to have two docks in Feudal to get fire ships out

John Jackson

Awesome, now do Land Nomad please!

Harry East

Why are Britons so bad on Nomad?

NotsoGreatsword

You know who you remind me of? The Duel Logs.

Daniel Sime

I keep getting demolished on Arabia. I need to know which civ best counters the Arabian pond longboat rush.

Joycenator Gaming

I kept waiting and waiting for Spanish because I knew they had to be on here 😂

Alief Dimas

I have an idea for a video, if every civ has every tech open for them, which civ will be the most op, just imagine all tech game but every civ still retain their civ bonus.

Matty G

Funny to see Britons at the bottom. I'd think they'd fare a bit better on Mountain Pass with its enormous amounts of sheep to find, though.

As someone whose exposure to the game is primarily YouTube videos, I'm curious — is a TC required for building lumber camps? If not, I feel like it might be a worthwhile strategy as Huns to drop a lumber camp next to the first treeline in view, and then have one village scout about for a good TC site while the lumber deficit is being made up (& the dock/fishing boat are being built), provided the camp costs less than a town center. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part that a more optimal placement for that first TC can offset being behind on villager production from the getgo, and given that I'm some rando third party making observations, this is likely an avenue that has already been thought of, explored, and discarded for one reason or another.

…I am asking anyway, though. ^-^;

SotL: "Saying the things that make a good nomad civ."
Me: "Byzantines are my fave, but definitely not Byzantines, then."
SotL: "Number 10, Byzantines."

I hate nomad now because its just a rush to castle, then whoever castle drops the opponent's starting TC first basically wins.

Bob

What is a good strat/civ for the gold rush map? I really hate that map, I always loose on it.

Bob

The nomad map has quite a lot of gold and especially a lot of stone, so the trade bonus of the Spanish civ is rather redundant. Mining gold is much more time and resources efficient than trade.
