Now, Reuters comes out with a very insightful exclusive, claiming that Microsoft intends to short circuit the EU merger review process…by promising them most everything the tech company thinks they will want.
But will it work?

Your headline makes it seem like EU has already decided not to agree to the deal. I don't think that's the case I think they're still examining it
So here is my take on the the entire "Activation is key to Sony's continued existence in the gaming landscape". Well sony CEO, if it was THAT IMPORTANT, THAT BLOODY IMPORTANT, why did you not take steps to secure exclusive publishing rights, or outright attempt to buy them yourselves? I mean, you cant survive without THESE TITLES right? Then as a CEO you failed not only your "consumers", that apparently DEPEND on these games, but your investors and the company itself. Perhaps, the CEO should be removed as they are basically making clear points to there incompetence and failure to grow the company as a whole.
Honestly, IF this deal goes through, I'm thinking Sony is kind of making a mistake on how they've handled this. Publically at least.
The more Sony publically complains about Microsoft owning CoD, the more casual gamers might chance on an article containing info about Sony's complaints.
So all of this controversy is ironically building Microsoft's association with Call of Duty. And they're also making it seem like Xbox as a service will become IMPOSSIBLE to compete with.
Which suggests to the consumer, that Microsoft is turning things around. I mean there's more stories on this merger than there is that Xbox didn't even release a single first party AAA game in 2022.
If I was involved with Microsoft and I was fairly sure this deal was going through, I'd try to provoke Sony even further. Controversy is an effective marketing technique.
Offering them 10 years is 10 years more than they deserve a lot can happen in that time
I think everyone seems to forget that when Sony needed to compete with the very experienced Sega and Nintendo they brought one of the biggest UK publishers which also helped them have a foot in the door to the west. Let Xbox Compete.
A Consession for Sony and MS to bring there game services to each other platform would be great
It’s obvious the European Commission couldn’t be bought like Brazil was for MS let’s be fair here that’s what’s really going on and the deal like I’ve been saying will not go through 👀
So a gaming company in Xbox that has never won a gen and has no game exclusives this year plus their best exclusive franchise in Halo is in shambles we think it’s good for them to get a successful franchise in COD smh it’ll be catastrophic for the gaming industry for MS to get this deal 👀
the thing is even if the deal goes through. xbox will never be on top. cuz Japanese fans and devs will never love a foreign company over their own country's products. so even with ABK i dont see xbox being bigger than Nintendo or sony in japan and thats a huge market. i think after this deal. i would be petty ass hell if i was xbox. sony really wanted xbox to get out of the "game" like how sony did sega. they dont want competition. even phil said the xbox one was soo bad it almost made Microsoft pull out of the gaming industry if it wasnt for phil and satia.

Option… for 10 years make a crud COD game – just for PS…. with a better game with different name for xbox/windows… if activision even knows what a good cod game looks like these days.

Sony should be worried about MS resurrecting the War for Cybertron and Hulk Ultimate Destruction games. Those two series are two comic book games till this day and they where made by the studios at Activision.

Microsoft aren't the good guys. I find the entire narrative of them being the "cure" to big tech duopoly in Europe laughable as they are part of the oligarchy of censorship and the walled garden here in the United States.

Money IS King do you really think a Company would want to do business with a "partner" that completely stabbed them in the back and scuttled a multi billion dollar deal? Activision may make a lot of money off Sony, but egos and relationships are involved and I don't see how Activision does business with Sony if they succeed. Not everyone in business is a milktoast like Phil.
why is MS has to kiss Sony's ass and is responsible for all of Sony's bad decisions and anti consumer behavior?
This deal needs to go through. PS stopped competing this gen. They're sitting pretty at the top making the most anti-consumer moves ever… Jacking prices on consoles and games, while nickel and diming consumers on everything else. The acquisition will force PS to compete. As a multi-console owner, I want both companies to provide the best games and services at competitive prices.
Can Xbox legally show to a higher court, the bias on behalf of the British, CMA and the head of our FTC (Lina Kahn) who also happens to be British?
What I do not understand is this:
After Sony originally argued vehemently that Call of Duty was the main concern with this deal, doesn't their pivoting to now claiming the deal in its entirety is unacceptable and refusing the 10 year offer show regulators that Sony are not arguing in good faith? Should that not raise some eyebrows and cause regulators to take a new look at every claim from Sony with healthy skepticism?
