Great interview with Dave! A superb angler, good to hear how he’s doing it right now… The point he made about picking your times really resonated. I’m retired now, used to be a Friday night angler. Picking my times to fish has produced bigger and bigger fish, definitely.

Once again a top episode Joe and Dave congratulations on your win as carp angler of the year! And the discussion about the hopeless dumping of a heavy toxic metal in nature really needs to be conducted! I'm from the Netherlands and here the discussion is really going on! But I believe that companies such as Korda , Nash etc etc should really focus much more on not dumping lead because it is completely insane that nowadays there is a focus on dumping with every bite ! And if we want our kids to be able to fish, then something really needs to be done about this!

Happy New year Joe a fantastic chat with Dave covering alot of subjects that alot in the trade would not want to give an opinion on. Really touched on some talked about subject matters in carp fishing top job mate
I'm with dave levy on barbed hooks, it is easier for a carp to shed a barbless hook, but when you play a fish on a barbless hook I believe that hook is moving up and down in a fishes lip cause more damage to the fishes mouth whereas a micro barb will hold the hook in a fixed position causing less damage, as long as the carp can get rid of the lead and any leader material, I think that is a safer less damaging way to catch carp

Brilliant vid mate, and Dave Levy….what an angler! Fully deserved Carp Angler of the year 2022..weldone. A very pertinent point about lead drops as this is something I have been concerned about for a few years….how much lead is on the bottom of a lot of these high pressure lakes and ponds? it has to have a detrimental effect, if not in the short term, definitely in the long term. As a possible solution, there are many sub aqua clubs in the UK, how about the fishery owners hire some divers to recover those leads ? they could resell them at a fraction of their cost and recover the cost of the divers while keeping the waters as lead free as possible and providing a service for cheaper leads in the industry…just a thought.
