Heather, I am so glad the veil has been lifted for you. When it happened for me, I felt so stupid, so deceived, so angry and so sad. I had to grieve the life I could have had without the oppression of the “church”. Take your time. Forgive yourself for believing your indoctrination. It wasn’t your fault. NONE of this was your fault.

Homosexuality is not an option if you follow the teachings of the apostle Paul, who wrote the New Testament. Period. No if and or buts. Multiple times homosexuality is called out as Sin. Multiple times.

Coming from New Zealand …..Heather I want you to know how accepting with huge big arms we as a country are proud to walk with gay and lesbian people and it’s even legal over here for them to get married…. if he is open with people outside of the church I think he will quickly make friends that he will have for life and it could quickly become one of the best experiences of his life Heather he will be so loved over here

Heather is riveting to listen to. So authentic.

You complain about the service you gave while active in the church but remember all the service that others gave to you and your family over the years. Bishops who sacrifice so much, youth leaders, primary teachers. They helped you lift up your family.
Nothing you have said about the church is some shocker revelation to me. I choose to stay because I still know it’s true. You talk about the church being hurtful but your statements can be just as hurtful.

I am so very sorry that Heather believes she and other women were/are treated as second rate by the men. My experience has been 100% NOT been that way, and I feel so very blessed to have found the church. I was shocked upon attending a temple session and I wept at a certain action done which I would've assumed only a priesthood holder would be permitted to do. It confirmed what I've always believed and was confirmed more and more over the last 21 years. That proved to me that women are far more valued and revered as already having something equivalent to the priesthood. It's much like "The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world." Women, generally and largely, naturally have more discernment, ability to determine who needs what and have a nurturing instinct and heart for those around them. Men are offered the priesthood in large part to train them to be able to do those things. It doesn't come naturally in general. I'm rambling a bit, but I hope and pray that Heather, her family and especially her son won't hold The Church accountable for actions of imperfect people. Love to all! 💕

This is a very POWERFUL, enlightening interview, on multiple levels.
Thank you. 👍👍

Trained to do. You cannot be gay and be an LDS.

When does a Religion become a Cult? 🤔

mindyk4

I'm sad for Heather. God didn't fail her. A false religion failed her and her family for generations. She is upset with God that He didn't guide her on the right path. That He didn't let her know. Has she learned the truth? Yes! Has He shown her the truth? Yes! So I disagree with her. Is she still a part of that religion? No. So what she is upset with God about, He actually DID do for her. With that said, it seems like she is upset with Him because He didn't do it SOONER! God does things in His own time, not OURS. Our ways are not HIS ways. I guess I'm a bit shocked that she doesn't THANK Him for finally showing her the light and the TRUTH. However; I DO understand her heartbreak and shock about something she believed in with all her heart, something she worked so hard and faithfully in, turned out to be false. I've been there so I DO know. I just saw it a different way and thanked God for finally opening my eyes. Better when it happened than to never have happened!! The truth does set us free! Absolutely NO judgment toward her from me at all. Just making an observation of her response that I found so interesting, and different than my own. She really is a lovely woman; honest, fair, compassionate, forgiving and intelligent!

This mirrors my own story. My oldest came out, and found a comment on an Instagram page that Joseph Smith married a 14-year-old. I googled it. And that was the final nail in the coffin of my 40 year life in the church. So glad to be out!

Prayers for Heather. Reject false prophets.

Blue Bear

Much respect for putting your son's well-being, and TRUTH, above church dogma. Kudos on the awareness, and courage to leave the LDS cult. I'm sure it's been a difficult, painful process. 💔

There is no enough space in this comment section for me to express how much reguard, respect and admiration I have for Heather Daybell, I am a Christian woman from Upstate NY and I have no fear what so ever that I will be going to Heaven when my day comes and my beliefs are simple. Love the lord and be a kind person and all the extra nonsense of these many other religions to me is just noise. God Bless you Heather and your Family and much love, hugs and prayers are being sent to you.

I had Respect for Heather before but now hearing her truth in part 3, I have a new found respect for her. Thank You Heather for Loving Your Child Unconditionally ❤ 💯 Love Wins

I think it is ok for you to have a relationship with the Lord without a church. I have served God for 30 years without a church. God bless you.

Thank you for posting this. There are so many of us out here that relate to Heather’s journey and that are taught to “doubt your doubts” and to only “study it out in your mind” as long as it doesn’t raise questions. I’m so sad that so much has been kept from us even though it has literally been the driving force behind our whole lives. There seems no stable ground to stand on anymore.

I watched all 3 parts of the interviews with Heather. These had been some of the best I've ever watched. Amazing woman and mom! Stay strong, you've got this Heather

I’m an Atheist, I’m not against people who have given themselves To their God, but your Temple is you 🙏

God was with you. He woke you up, gave you a beautiful gay son, gave you a discerning mind, a supportive immediate family, courage, strength and experiences that are leading you to the place He wants for you. Im sure you need space to rest right now and I pray that your direct relationship with God will heal.

Michelle M

Such courage! I just wanted to say I have a wonderful relationship with God and I don't follow any religion. He has taught me so much and moved mountains in my life and I know He is still moving in your life too even if you have to separate yourself from your church. 🙏
