To much of a hassle to fish tbh

triggerhappy52786

my lure just bobs up and down and never hooks anything been trying for hours. tried being exactly 3 away doesnt work

Want to correct you here. The wooden rod can be used in stone biome. If you get your fishing points up. The rod doesn't matter.

I have never observed the bubbles for fishing, and stayed in one spot for a long time, and still gotten fishing.

Fishing in open waters is a good way to get early skill for fishing before you fish in schools. It nets you a lot of "trash" catches which are worth something to NPC's as well as rare accessories like the guppy necklace and others for no fuss at all vs catching difficult fish. Remember, exp is only given on successful catches – trash or not – so if you're in it purely for the accessories or the talents, consider doing that for easier exp!

I wish they added some clarity on what fishing skill actually does…does it work like terraria where fishing power changes drop chances? does it effect how quickly fish get away from you or how much the line strains when you pull at the incorrect time? I'm sitting here at like 60 fishing and I notice a marked difference between the rods even in the dirt biome where it feels like fish simply reel in faster and my line doesn't break as often or strain as quickly but does anyone know for sure?

Is it possible to make different biomes within your base that you can fish from? I just tired checking if its a tile ID water source but it's not. I had brought a water source from caves to my base and made a pond to fish from :p.

I wonder if you can trick the game into thinking you're in a biome based on a check of a certain number of blocks etc? :p

Thanks for this! I'm hooked (hardy har) on this game and haven't touched fishing yet. Now it sounds fun. 🙂

Were you aware you can eat the blue glowing flowers & it lights up the character? You probably do, but I don't recall seein you or MM doing that.

You can always bridge towards the pool. Distance thrown doesn't matter much. Also you can get fishes outside of the swirl pool. Chances are lower but can bite on the line.

catching up on the replay, hope all is well

Can I pay you to catch some fish for me

because the different rods give different +bonus to fishing, maybe you could successfully fish in the stone biome with the tin rod if you had a higher fishing skill or a bonus from elsewhere..
Havent fished once, but seeing the buffs they can give by cooking i ought to try it out..
