I'm a subscriber that has lived in a van for the past year. I've used my buddy heater during sleep consistently when it's cold. As long as you have cross ventilation and a carbon monoxide detector it's completely safe. At least from my personal experience.

If you haven’t yet, you should check out the YouTube channel called MAV. He is in Minnesota and he truck camps in a pick up truck almost identical to yours and he has a diesel heater hooked up in the bed of his truck to keep warm.

Get yourself those disposable hand/feet warmers and fill your socks & gloves when you sleep and you can use them in your pants/shirt! I watch several people who live full time in their vehicles who swear about those disposables! Also if you tuck your head under your blankets and breath your hot air & it will help you warm up! I’m from Michigan so I learned a bunch of tips to keep warm in those frigid winters 😊
