This does not help at all. It pains me when legislature passes law without hearing from people who know a lot about it. What might help more is a document showing proof of consensual removal of cats with sale at scrapyards
Edit: this law makes all legal sale of cats hard, meaning they will become entirely under the table, worsening the problem

I think it's a great idea but it's unconstitutional u can't limit what someone can have or can't have or sell and can't sell. An I hate it for people bc catalytic converters are alot of money but u don't even have to sell the cat just cut it open and get the precious metals out of it

How about making catalytic converters unnecessary on cars?
Watching this I immediately thought back to when I scrapped my car and sold it's cats. Even if I could still sell it to the guy I did how would he sell it? It'd make way more sense to require proof of ownership and ID, and require licenses for larger sellers.

That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. No wonder our country is struggling, we have idiots representing us. I guess politicians don’t have to scrap metal to make a living. Why not bust the people stealing and arrest them instead. Doesn’t our taxes cover law enforcement.
Makes no sense at all, some catalytic converters even sold legally or worth over $200 each. How about doing the smart thing. License catalytic converter sellers and regulate recyclers. Must show ID and recycling, sellers permit. All converters have serial numbers. Track random serial numbers and if serial numbers come back stolen then recyclers and sellers shall be held accountable with fines and possible jail time. See if that helps the problem

They are just gonna go find a illegal smolder and smelt down all the minerals into one cube. Once they have enough they gonna sell the mineral and make bank and hence there no catalyc converter on the sell. They already found around it. They will just classified as miscellaneous or under ore or metal. I know because that's how they do it in cali and the recycle shops are making bank is a win win for the shop and the thief

So basically they made it so you can't sell them even if you are legitimately buying and selling scrap for money on the side. Who is going to sell a converter worth a few hundred for twenty five bucks. The scrap yards started making you have proof of sales months ago they had already solved the problem before this bill had even passed.
