The headlights don't protect you in a crash. Not only that, bright headlights make it harder for other drivers to see making it less safe for everyone. How many crashes are blamed on headlights? I never heard of one. Silly.
Let me get this straight: 5,000 pounds, 20 feet in length 6'6" tall and you are worried about being INSIDE one of these things?! What about the poor bloke on the 1982 Civic in front of you?
Never forget the most unsafe vehicle on the road is the 2003-2018 Dodge Ram. More people have been maimed or killed in Rams then any other vehicle over the last 40 years.
How about Dodge Ram it’s better than a Silverado for reliability but question is the Dodge Ram more reliable than a tundra
So I should buy a Toyota pickup because it has better headlights. Safety is surviving an accident. Yes, headlights are important, but should not be part of this rating. Headlights are important, but should not be included in crash test ratings .
Safety yes but price dictates sales! Consumers are dumbest 🙄
With a good rating, does that mean the insurance companies will keep the insurance price low?
Tim love to see a rear ender video, see what you can do . Do you like your new tunde over the old ? Or you want both if ya could. Thanks
Safety is overrated. 1970s and 80s trucks were perfectly safe. Brakes were a little dodgy in older than 70s though.
I want to see a crash getting rear ended?? That could be the real worry ? Just wondering how that works out .
Went to the site as you were talking about this. I understand the reason for the headlights, but I doubt few full-size pickup accidents were due to headlights. But I could be wrong.
Remember earlier this year was disappointed with the Tundra now love this truck saw brand new in red was Limited all new looked at it in my rearview mirror starting see them on the streets guess these newer ones are much better than when they first were introduced.
It's funny how I have ridden motorcycles all my life. When it comes to my wife and kids, it does matter.
I have high praise for IIHS. They push the mfrs with success. LED headlights are a few dollars more and there is no excuse in 2022 for those to not be standard in all levels. A plumber driving a company truck is as valuable ( maybe more valuable) as a CEO driving a top trim truck. Keep steered and chrome trim on the high trims but still put good light source in base ttims.
I wish there was more consistent testing for HD trucks as well. Since my family is always with me, this is definitely another reason for me to consider a Tundra.
I think led headlights should be standard on all trims my opinion it's ridiculous how leds are like a option instead of being standard.
I have a new tundra and I'm loving it. This is just more news to make me satisfied with my purchase. The haters are always gonna hate.
I can’t wait for Cyberjunk to get crash rated, if and when they make it. My guess is it will not be rated highest. Not sure why they not pick on headlights. I hate headlights that move when you turn. My LED lights are fantastic only my 2016 F-150.
Where the haters at on this one?
Thanks Tim for consistently sharing the valuable insight that you share, which allows myself and other consumers to make an informed purchase
Thanks MIKE SWEERS & THE TOYOTA TEAM for GENUINELY CARING ABOUT THE CUSTOMER by FOCUSING ON MAKING TUNDRA THE SAFEST FAMILY TRUCK!!!!!!!
Barry Drexler
As much crap as I give this new gen tundra, props to the high safety ratings.
The fact that you bring up safety test just to be real and the fact that you're talking about it it's still at the end of the day the rest of the trucks are still just as safe hands down regardless and it's kind of ironic that certain changes happen the year of Toyota and it's kind of ironic the only thing you come on here to talk about is Toyota in the brag about Toyota I think the viewers are really take a deep look at that and be real with that you know again you the one who always talks about you got to contact that Toyota you can talk to someone at Toyota you trying to figure it out dude and you bring back tow hooks no matter what you say there's no excuses you try to make that that's the reason why safety issues stop lying to people here and you can barely put it out from the back that it makes any sense whatsoever to buy a truck and expect to get out of something and you have no way to get out of it I can't pull my truck out without at least hook it on the toe arm and almost tearing it off we tried it we did it we wasn't successful we literally had the pool the truck out almost 4 4 1/2 yards just to pull the truck out of a mud pit that every other truck went through got stuck we was able to pull everybody out by the tow hook the Toyota tundra we literally had to drag the truck through the entire pit because it had no toes
I wonder why Mike is always coming back about Toyota and what Toyota has but man just go ahead and just say it man just you are a page spokesman for Toyota it is unfair for all the people man who watch your page and try to give you credit and you you attempt to compare trucks but when you go back and look at all this videos look how he compares trucks to Toyota and look how you can pay everybody else the one is always always seem to lean more to Toyota and the truth of the matter is that is not a better product and those are the facts no matter how you see it no matter how much you try to push it that's still not buying the truck it's still a dead last selling vehicle on the entire truck market and that is a statement in itself
Owned a 22 ram 2500 hit a tree head on at 55+ and 4000 rpm. Truck was totalled but i survived. Tree made it all the way to the front differential the rear doors could still be opened and closed. Ill own another ram someday, im a believer.
Why they don’t test them on head to head crash tests ???
Like ram vs Ford ,tundra vs ram, ford vs Chevy etc …
I think that is the best test they can do, especially today with to many rong way drivers on the rod .
Please clean your camera lens lol
Hmmm, my 22 bronco sq deletes the brace/ part behind the 35" tire, how does the 4dr. I'm driving rank.?
What I'm about to say is assuming you're right about the lack of tow hooks causing it to have better safety ratings
They gave up a lot of functionality for such a minor difference in how it performs in a crash. If they designed the frame to crumple that much where tow hooks would bend the frame when you use them, that's a huge design flaw and getting rid of that functionality doesn't fix it. If this is true, then everything I said about the Tundra being a car in the shape of a truck is further solidified
Safety is important, but let's not be cheap about it. Maybe if the entire front end wasn't plastic, the frame wouldn't have to be so soft to absorb more impact
Who gets the award for launching grill components the farthest? That mustache went off like a futuristic weapon
Tow hook thing is meaningless. I’d love to know how the tow hooks aren’t hurting ford, ram & gm 5* ratings, but Toyota can’t manage a 5* with tow hooks? They wouldn’t effect the “+” pick for the headlights.
Sounds like the some bean counters figured out they can make a couple bucks selling “TRD tow hook” accessories.
