I’ve never considered this 1965 Ford F-100 truck to be my first car, but it kind of is. My Grandma signed this truck over to me when I was 5 and I didn’t know it was mine until many years after I started driving. This truck was built and customized by my Grandpa I never met. He was always doing something with cars, building engines, racing them, whatever needed to happen. After he passed away this truck sat in garage until late last year. We went and picked it up, now it’s time to start restoring it with all the best parts I can find.

You must look at the 62 blue short bed unibody a nice truck
My 460F100 Lincoln automatic is blue . My second , i have 33 years owning two . Lite and fast .
If this is an automatic would you be able to take pics of the kickdown connection? Mine was removed from the carb to the transmission. I can't find any info on how it was routed or even where it connects at the carb. Thanks and I enjoyed your videos.
You have to keep this one
Thanks for the video. I'm a grandpa and have owed a 1966 F-250 custom cab for the last 43 years. However, none of my children have expressed an interest in it. I grew up as a petrol head and was a drag racer for many years but cars where never an interest for my children (they have more interest in computers and cell phones). I also built a camper shell for it and the truck has been all over the country. It is still in good condition but I've not used it much in the last 20 years. I was thinking of selling it along with a 1965 2+2 Mustang I own but this makes me rethink doing that.
Just watched this ! I have a '66 F100 custom cab in my shed right now. It's not near as nice as this one. It has a 352 with three on the tree. Hasn't been started for 20 plus years. I'll be attempting to get it running this spring !
i have the same truck from my dad but its a 66 same colour I love the beige and the Wimbledon white
I had a 65 M100, same color (Wimbledon White) same custom cab trim package and a 352 with a 3 speed column shift, the engine had gold painted valve covers and air cleaner. Your AC is great. Good luck with the project.
Your grandpa would be so proud of you brother! Looking forward to seeing this thing all fixed up. I'm finally getting caught up on the videos I've missed, starting here.
Never heard of a C4 behind a FE, and if so why would anybody want it..
👍👍👍👍

The design of this truck is perfect the way it is. Please don't redesign it and ruin what is already great about it.
I'm in that truck is perfect. 40 years ago I bought grandpa's 62 F250 Custom Cab My Fist ride, he was a Ford Mechanic took great care of it. Damn I miss that truck
My Dad purchased a very, very lightly used 1966 Ford (three on the tree, AM radio, no air factory or otherwise, and power nothing) in late 1966 for use on the family farm and as his daily driver. It had a VERY heavy duty suspension for the day, so much so, that I've seen late model 4X4 pickups and SUVs that did not have ride height that totally unmodified (ever) '66 did. It was the same "tan" or "sand" color that the lower part of your truck is. The truck was listed as an "Industrial/heavy duty model" and was powered by a truly gutsy 352 "Industrial" V8 with a two barrel carburetor that I could easily stick my thumbs into with room to spare. I took my drivers test in that truck and drove it to school and back most days from 1970 to 1972. It had so much torque that more than one of my classmates, who owned "built" (by them for the most part) Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds. and other makes and models of the day, often asked me what kind of cam was in the truck….I always told them a three quarter cam, they believed me and I left it at that. With "snow tires" on the rear I had no problem "smoking" the majority of them off the line, and beating them, badly, traffic light to traffic light. That truck had no problem pulling a cattle trailer with six hefty bulls in it and two equally well fed cows in the bed to the cattle sale Dad preferred to do business with at least three times a year. It never seemed to be strained under the load and performed admirably until Dad decided he needed a new pickup….Which was a mistake….He traded for a 1976 Ford pickup, automatic, air, power steering and brakes and a….Oh Lord help me….With the gutless 302cid carbureted engine….But he learned pretty quick that was a bad idea, after spending a small fortune on steering and suspension work, and tires and traded for a brand-new 1987 Dodge, also automatic with air, power steering and brakes but with a 318cid engine that served his farm and daily driver needs until he started having health problems and turned in his drivers license. Upon his passing my younger brother inherited the Dodge and still drives it occasionally to this day….But given a choice….I'd be all over a 1966 Ford with three on the tree, no air, power nothing and a 352cid "Industrial" if I were find one for sale.
Great vid,,,, love them old fords👍
When are you gonna do something with that EXP? That could be really cool!
its not a y block ford stopped the y block in 1964
just get it road worthy don't change anything
Congrats it’s an amazing truck. Hello from Mexico
I feel like Ford battery terminals corrode more than any other car. I've had 3 Fords until I switched to Korean cars. 2 Expeditions and 1 Escort.
is it for sale ?
WOW BRUH , Y'all look like brothers, AMAZING resemblance.
you look just like your grandfather
Very cool. Pretty sure only a 352 was available in 1965. I grew up with a white 1965 F100 with the Twin I beam emblems on the fender. First year for that suspension which is still used today in the 2wd trucks. My dad got another truck recently, a 1969 F250 2wd 360 4speed. Very similar feel, but does not look quite as nice, and I miss the zip up door pockets and the storage compartment on the side of the bed. That is factory by the way.
Also FYI those goodyear tracker ATs are VERY desirable for Jeep CJ restorations. Definitely do not toss them. A lot of guys will just run them as the rear mounted spare for show.
I like these years of Ford pickups. I can't help thinking that this is a F 250 Camper special. The Camper Specials had the storage box on the rear quarter panel like yours does.
Hey JR What year was your grandpa born?
dude your grandpa was a SLAYER – look at that handsome devil, cool AF
Parking in a disabled parking spot tut tut lol 😂
I had a 65 Ford F100 flare side that was my dad's I had planned on restoring but could never get it started. Loved that truck. Had wood for the bed of the truck.
The best tire size ya will want is P275-60-15’s.
The engine is a Ford FE Big Block not a Y Block
When is the john deere crawler coming back to the channel
If you're looking to get the radio repaired, check out Classic Car Radio Service. It's my father's company. He's been repairing and restoring antique car radios for 30 years and he is the best in the business.
That AC seems to be from a Ford Galaxie, or at least the emblem on there.
When Jr pulled the rear chair back and found stuff I thought to me self ….. Granpa might keep his Porn Stash there from Gramma , I bet Gramps was a Al Buddy kinda guy .. you know college football star and knew he was the best
Congrats on the 65. Looks great. I have the 65 my dad built and they are fun to work on.
You should take out all the old liquids and replace with new before starting. Really cool nice truck said from not a truck guy.
Same thing happened to me before , tastes salty and metallic
This is going to be more bad-ass than the R8 just on the sheer cool factor alone. Also, good to see the EXP in the background.
Your grandma she so cool for leaving to you your grandpa's 65 f100 and your grandpa looks alot like you @watchjrgo!!
It would be neat if the camper was also there and if that were restored too.
