Regarding the a/c, 500 cfm is not alot of air flow. The manufacturer might be playing with the numbers like some Asian ductless a/c manufacturers and others do with efficiency. They lower the blower speed to increase efficiency.
I love and hate wrecking yards. I could never afford the stuff cause it is not that big of saving and if they have one, then they have a hundred of the same item and they just set there waiting for someone wealthy enough to buy then convert it to their application. So many variables when buying used just to find it would long run been cheaper to buy new. If they would just make the stuff more affordable then it would move like a motor for your rig or trans that is a spare in case of or could be switched out on a lay over. People can't afford most of it and some of it still needs repair to be of service…. I still love wrecking yards thou as a kid I would buy good cabs or doors and fix wrecks around the place as my dad was a logger and there were trucks that either needed fenders or cab… etc, and dad would sell cheap to me cause he was getting his money back from working for him just for him to see me roll out on my own time at my place a dozer or truck he just knew was dead then all the sudden nice paint and good running rig. I tripled my money off my dad selling at steep discount. He would find out he bought his own rig that he had told me to scrap and I would make nice with a JC Higgins paint gun and tools plus parts he never missed cause he walked over it. I made my start off my dad without him ever knowing cause he pretty much despised me. I was emancipated at fifteen.
That 12v A/C unit sounds really awesome! Just the thing for the Van Life community and anyone that wants to camp off of the grid, maybe also with people using 12v systems in their off grid cabins
I like wrecking yards, esp. when they're laid out like that one…enough parts to build a diesel powered rat rod. Buscon did look a little boring, I guess I'm spoiled by buses like Lenny: not necessarily advanced, but there's no denying their character. Thanks for posting!
Why aren't they hanging the mirrors from the roof ? isn't that regulations it should be it prevents a lot of deaths if your mirrors are connected like that, a lot of people get hit by mirrors from trucks and buses. Please push for stiffer regulation
I have heard/seen several guys tell their viewers that "oil bath is the way to go." But I really don't see any manufacturers who still put them on. Cyclone separators and paper (or some similar type of dry media) is what everyone is doing these days – you are obviously going to a newer design. Your thoughts?
Hey Scott, i was wondering if one day you could do up a video(s) of the different vintage bus models/brands and compare them etc…for people considering going that route one day…pros/cons to ownership/buying compared to one another…and maybe a Scott's recommended vintage bus list at the end. It might have to be a video series haha 😀 Keep up the great work! best rgds.
The old Downtown power plant….I've hauled furnace dust out of there to the landfill when it was still coal-fired. Nasty stuff, you could "roll coal" with Lenny all day long and not produce as much soot. As far as the air filter housing goes, are you planning on running a heat shield or will it be far enough from the eventual turbo where excessive heat won't be a concern?
That place looked vaguely familiar, though I usually just got to see the loading docks and the floor either during set-up or tear-down. Indiana Cornvention Center, I do believe….
That 12v A/C is a great idea, if you had enough room in the engine bay to run a second 100 amp alternator connected to your house bank no problem running that all day.
This reminds me that I still need to get a Litens/Gates OAD pulley to swap out the solid one on my vehicle. The OAD pulleys do fail sometimes but they also let the alternator freewheel faster than the engine so it slows down faster during upshifts maybe making shifts faster and less harsh with less clutch wear and of course making the belt tensioner last longer.
Stinks to miss Buscon only 4 hours away. Used to have a lot of fun at those. You can’t go wrong with REI best over the road electronics I ever dealt with before retiring. Great Customer service and was fast on warranty replacement.
I always wonder wrecking yards can make a living. It's not like you see loads of ppl walking around looking for parts. Also, how useful are parts when being left in the rain for a long time?
I think you should mount one of those big stainless air cleaners on the outside of the engine compartment. Then it won't be in the way when you work on it (LOL).
More wrecking yard! I could have spent a couple hours exploring there! I'm thinking one of those tractor trailer cabs would make a nice man cave in the back yard!
Did you happen to spot any Propane Tanks or Propane Accessories ?? I'll tell you what… they had about any kind of big truck part you could want. Did they have any wrecked Propane Haulers ?? I couldn't take Bobby to a place like that, I'd never find that boy… Great Vidyoo Bus Grease Monkey.
i think the green spinning thing at 10:00 is what was in the orgasmatron. i think they had three of them arranged in a triangle, and you kind of stand in the middle. way ahead of it's time. sleeper didn't happen till 2173. pretty impressive for indiana.
Thank you good stuff

I love the White 9000 at 2 mins 15 is that a 6V53?
At 14:11 I thought this was what you were after, the look-a-like from "Duel" with Dennis Weaver, 1971.
@ 6:07 Al, are you related to Senator Jeff Sessions?
Can I ask where this location is , if possible , Thank You , Don !

Can you give me the model number for the Electra Kool AC?
Peterbilt air cleaner…. 100 more horse, 15 more mph!!!

Could you fix up lenny with some of that stuff?
Are these trucks 50 years old?
I caught AM windshield vendor, been on that web site so I can add wipers to my front end loader.
A drone would cover that expanse of trucks and parts without moving your person ! Cheers🇨🇦🇺🇸

You got to see what your great grand kids will be converting into recreational vehicles.

waiting for comments on Prime trucking wrecks..

What was that Tire machine, with the swinging / twirling chain's for?

Buy the shiny one…. :-)….. sorry…. just the inner gearhead in me…..
Would also like to know price on the 12v roof air. I could probably run off my 50DN. I could not find the unit or price on their website. Thanks.
seems like the mass majority of trucks are all relatively new… I wonder what that says about the way the trucks are built today
Hey Scott why don’t you just build your own aluminum airbox your welder guy could do it for you it would look good and fit right in everything?

What was the name of that wrecking yard
More wrecking yard! I could have spent a couple hours exploring there! I'm thinking one of those tractor trailer cabs would make a nice man cave in the back yard!
It looks like a truck stop after a swift convention
Awsome video! Thanks for sharing!
