On this episode I continue with the ongoing restoration of this 1979 Kenworth W900A truck to turn it into a tribute movie truck to the one used in the 1977 classic movie Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason. If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for??? “Son, how ‘bout you drop me off at the next exit?”
Picking up where I left off last week, I wanted to take Snowman for a longer run and really stretch out her legs. However, I was concerned about picking up rocks on the front drives and having them pepper the back of the bunk so I stopped in at Lesco and picked up some black poly quarter fenders as a compromise between making it movie correct (no fenders) and functional. IN the end they blend in nicely and worst case I can easily remove them with a single bolt when parked at a truck show. Then I noticed that I still haven’t mounted the Kenworth badges up on the hod in the movie correct location. Following that a little service, grease, check fluids and me and Mrs TwinSticks were off and what do you know … the truck ran like a champ – What a treat!
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for all the comments, suggestions, and support!
Keep in mind, I know a little about a lot but not an expert in anything … just doing the best I can, learning as I go … I do all my own stunts
Enjoy watching the progress of this Kenworth W900A project, the ongoing Peterbilt 359 restoration and the upcoming #IronDuke Kenworth K100 cabover I’m planning to build up like the one used in the 70’s trucking movie High Ballin’ with Jerry Reed and Peter Fonda.

super cool love your channel been watching from beginning and will continue
One nice looking truck buddy, you have done the movie proud. Been watching since little by little.
What a blast this has been thank you for taking us on this journey. I started when you were outside doing on the brakes as someone else mentioned. Awesome rig, now I feel like there’s a beer waiting for you in Texarkana.
Awesome video
Brings back memories
When I drove a W 900 A
It was a 80 model with a 3406 A
And a 8 speed it was spring ride
😬
REEDSRD as in Reed's ride REEDSKW REEDS900 JERRYSKW not sure on character# requirements for your license tags but just a few ideas on different ways you could get a personal tag
Get full wrap fenders. I have a similar fender and it throws rocks over top onto the sleeper.
Gotta love that lope of those ol big cams keep up the amazing work mark
Think you need an old C500 6×6 beater for the winter time. Winter project with winter drives!
"Well, they said it couldn't be done."
"Well, that's the reason, son."
like i said a few years ago the hand reveal was more interesting than most peoples face
So the bandit didn't have much money so he put on a set of plastic fenders been better off putting on a set if Hogebuilt ones
If I remember correctly, that W9 has Hendrickson Walking Beam rear suspension. If I am correct, that is a construction type suspension and it does ride very rough when you do not have a load on it.
You do not have the stripes on the air cleaners like in the movie truck…
“I couldn’t punch that smile off your face” -Peg
those windshields probably have over spray from when you painted the truck, try going over them with a razor blade and some 00 steel wool.
Very well done my friend been watching this since the beginning … beautiful job my friend ! ❤️🍺😎
Gorgeous!
Happy for ya. Glad it's gotten far enough to drive. You could wipe that smile off your face with a baseball bat haha
Keep it up mark
its good looking truck. You really gonna rebuild a black Fire bird?
Or possibly not converted , the 73 may have been hit or crashed at one point during filming or before and someone bought whatever they could to fix it and get goin . In that case they replaced the parts with driver side ones which would explain the front fill since the tank would now be flipped and handles
Nice job marc snowman came out great keep up the awesome job can't wait to see the trailer
Fantastic
Nice job what about Fred?
My thought in the passenger side fuel tank and step box: the ‘73 may have been hit on the side and they took a driver’s side tank and battery box cover and made it work.
