But why am I so excited about this truck ? I will never get a Semi truck, and it will probably be years before we see the Tesla Semi truck in Europe. But the Tesla Semi truck is just such an important product. Not just for Tesla, but for all of us. It is such a game changer product!

It's a concept – all concept cars/trucks can sound and look incredible. The hype means nothing until the actual truck is in production and on the road. Otherwise, you're believing unsubstantiated hype – a salesman's (Musk) dream.
The fact that this video is made in 2021 and uses info announced in 2017 about a product that was supposed to start production in 2019 should tell you all you need to know about the worlds biggest con-man, aka Elon Musk as well as this video maker. You should have 2 years of real life actual performance data by trucking companies at this time, yet you are still quoting the same empty promises from 2017.
A specially tailored robot will act as a driver. The robot who has the ability to communicate with the FSD computers . That will be great.
Don’t forget the weight of the batteries..important for any haulage company
Won’t be out for about 10 years
No one wants to get close it looks ugly
"Tesla Semi Truck can't be copied, and the others are embarrassingly* far behind."
Now you all had me liking this vehicle and I still enjoy the tech. aspect. But long-haul trucking is another matter. This 250 is average distances they travel is pure B.S. sorry people. Ask a long hauler. I drove an average of over 500 miles a day, and it may have taken to 2 days long haul driving to get to my destination.1000 miles away. Fact not spiculation fellas and ladies.
It is NOT "and 80000 lbs…..it IS a total weight of 80000 lbs, to include the weight of the entire truck…..but rumors of an added weight allowance for electric trucks……
You actually made me interested in investing in Tesla stocks. But cant untill june.
It’s a day cab only……. Bummer
Couple things…
1) Many modern semi's have automatic transmissions. Don't need to shift those either.
2) 0-60 times aren't an advantage when hauling freight… Do you think your produce (bananas/vegetables/fruit), or TV's/stereo's/computers need to be subjected to that kind of abuse?
That said, this truck does definitely have the potential to crush the other HDD manufacturers. PACCAR is working on their own EV but as you said, cannot compete with Tesla's offering. They are retrofitting existing platforms for EV use rather than taking Teslas clean sheet approach.
Tesla wont be able to build them fast enough.
I drove over the road for awhile. You will see owner operators buying tesla trucks. The economics are just too good.
They will no longer real truck drivers, but maybe just truck attendants that are just along for the ride as required by law.
It's a game changer on a completely different scale. 150-180k with a sleeper and a national network of mega chargers say 20 per major city and one at every fleet depot in four years. 400-500000 Tesla semis by then as well. 10 billion gallons of diesel that wasn't bought or burned per year. And Tesla picks up the fuel margins on all remote charging. Probably pays for the station every year in that alone. Sds would be a whole different animal.
Guys, this truck could be delivered on 2022, as well as 2025, Tesla isn’t very good on delivery dates, (it was supposed to be done on 2019 so) I wouldn’t be to hyped just yet
You are usually well informed and spot on. This time, I'm not sure but I do hope you are. Btw. Are diesel semi trucks hard to drive? Not today. Today they all got automatic or semi automatic gearboxes unless order'd otherwise for specific usage or for older drivers that does not wanna change their way. Also when will Tesla ramp up production of the Semi? There are already several BEV semi trucks available both in US and EU. Ok most of them are not really intended for long haul at the moment but will work well for city wide deliveries or medium long trips. As long as there are on site chargers at both end's we already got options for BEV semi's that will work for specific routes and companies. But they will never have the mega chargers. That center driver position, is it really better? All that being said, I am excited to see the final production ready Tesla Semi. The electric motor should be the perfect drive train for heavy haulage. All torque all of the time. I would love to see munro do a tear down of the Tesla Semi.
Did you say Tesla has been making electric vehicles for 70 years!? That sounds unreal.
Diesel trucks are able to sit and idle for hours to provide a comfortable sleeping quarters. Will the Tesla do this?
Could append energy with tesla solar panels on the truck.
Waiting for "the people's car" version. Designed for families and affordable ❤.
Not true, DAF has a hydrogen truck going 1000 miles.. there are alooooot of good trucks with good range and comfortabillity, you just used 2 american truck makers
All it will take is one person killed while fueling H truck. H fueling stations will be banned in urban areas. Fueling H truck s will become a major detour. On the flip side, all loading docks will have destination charger. Range will no longer be an issue. T Semi SR w/~240mi range will become the best selling truck of all time.
The steering and seat in the Semi truck is in the middle of the cab. I presume this means that it can be driven both in the right and left side of the road. NO need to modify it for different markets.
Elon Musk likely to be the first dollar Trillionaire!
Hmmm…how long does it take to charge it up?? i mean to charge *Them All* up ?
"Hey Dad, you wanna have a catch", Field of Dreams.
I have been driving truck for over 40 years over the road and now I’m driving and I’m home daily no weekends I wish they came out with this truck 20 years ago I remember when I started driving no air ride suspension no air conditioning no power steering was a rough ride in the beginning I would love to be able to drive one of these trucks but I’m retiring this year I’ve made good money and I enjoyed every minute of it the more I learn about Elon musk the more I like that guy great inventor innovator seems like a down-to-earth person let’s go Brandon
Sure
Tesla should start building a network of Travel Centers.
Awesome! How many have they sold so far?
Excellent overview.
Chinese Communist Party backed companies will steal the technology
And mass produce junk
looks great but there are lot of things about driving a semi you know jack shit about but truck looks good
Can it pull 3 trailers laiden with cattle or freight? because alot outback in Australia communitys rely on freight and perishables
Miles of rang ROFL
When Elon has monopoly, I feel safe. He is against the big bad communists, globalists guys which harms human as we see now and then.
You need to count how many wheels are on the truck.
I’m curious if that thing is really bulletproof?
Looks like Elon musk has put them all to shame to me!
This semi is a hoax!
This semi is a hoax!
LOL the start of this video just got topical, with the bolts current recalls, GM losing $9k on each recall LMAO. Chevy bolt of lightning any one? (Battery short-circuit included by design). States or counties that still have the electric chair for ultimate penal sanction should just put the convict in a Chevy bolt!
Inferno car want to buy? it's so Hot that it will change your life, as in end it.! Will give you a preview of Hell!
Lars get a reality check you obviously have no idea how a freight company works
If I reserve one how long do you think it will take until I get mine?
Until such times as regulations that would have to be so strick that it would take numerious generation to adapt. Autonomus auto's will never really be a thing.
Sure using GPS can get one from here to their on controlled test sites during perfect weather. But once someone gets to their destination, even on a controlled test site during perfect weather. The competition for a parking spot becomes an issue.
Everyone knows what is referred to as "Road Rage" is. Becasue it happens mainly on public streets and highways. But few with the exception of those ever envolved, are aware of an issue as big or bigger, becasue they happen on private property, and that's parking rage.
At some point I can imagine regualations being written in whch auto's on public streets will all be controled basically using an algorithium. The driving on public streets are already regulated to an extreme in pretty much the entire planet. But when it comes to parking most of which is done on private properties. And with the few exception that exist by some property owner, have little to none regulations. I can't imagine an algoritium that could be written that could or would deal with it.
Just look and compare the issues HOA's who have implemented regulations in regards to everything within the HOA confines, including the parking of auto's. Which differ with each and every HOA. nd compare it to any and all area's that are someone can, will, would, need to park any where else. That's gonna take some serious regulations any current generation would ever stand for.
