What is the estimated load capacity? I think I missed that the comparison with normal trucks

Todd Abbott

500 miles on a truck that is supposed to haul 80,000 pounds… you are likely talking 20,000 pounds in batteries. That means you are NOT going to be able to haul the full 80,000 pounds (or whatever it is). So how long does it take to charge and what kind of crazy power does this charging station need. And if you do not think the battery will be that heavy… a Model 3 battery is 1000 pounds. This is almost double the range and what 20x heavier… so even with sliming things down 20,000 pounds sounds about right. If it is 35x the battery charge and 80% on a Tesla Model 3 takes 20 minutes to charge… is this going to take 700 minutes to charge 80%. A Supercharge station is already something like 480v and 50 amps…. so are these going to use 1000 volts then… and maybe 100 amps to get the charging to 100% down to say 4 hours.

Realistically I think these would be better suited with a smaller battery and only used for local hauls. Teslas typically do better in the city anyways do to lots of torque and regenerative breaking. A 10,000 pound battery sounds a bit better and would cut very little into the payload… especially with the 2000 pound bonus EV trucks get. Long haul truckers can go more than 500 miles in a day, but not in a Tesla. The charging times are just too long. Plus with those heavy batteries already cutting into your payload it would be even harder to have a sleeper version.

when you develop a new heavy duty F250 type truck, i will be all in! As long as they start building more stations

Sean Conrad

So long as it lives up to the claims it should be a good truck.

Driven Nashville

Amazing. God bless Elon and the team

Man I love Elon's personable approach and presentation style. Not like the typical car conglomerate.

Tijan

They are definitely shooting for the full autopilot here. I think this could be the future of the company !!

miguel plasencia

we need line of recharge to car and truck, recharge in draiving, no recharge stoped only, like trolleyBus and electric trains

miguel plasencia

Bringing back the 50's

It needs at least another 100 miles of range to safely drive 10 hours +. drivers do more in the truck than just drive it. it's their home. so they need comfort features. and how about actual loaded range? overloaded? It's potentially great but needs a little real world refinement… IMO

manuel lujan

IF YOU MAKE A TRAILER TO GO WITH THAT TRUCK AND YOU FIT IT WITH BATTERIES TO GO 1000. OR. 2000 MILES IN ONE CHARGE THINK OF THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cristiandemirel1918

What is the weight of the truck?

cristiandemirel1918

Is this guy out of his mind!?!? Is that what we need on the public roads, an 80k lbs vehicle that can accelerate very fast!?

Shinji_86

Elon sounds like that guy that never prepped for his presentation at school and is just winging it from memory and hoping for the best

Jordi van Selm

11:38 Looking forward to that 8 hour video!

Charlie Ritchie

Just imagine the vehicle to grid potential these trucks will have!

poorfellowsoldier

Not an engineer. Anyone think they could get one to a 600 or 700 mile range by using a fly wheel or some type of charge while in motion system?

SOO KIM

Nice content. To me trading the forex and crypto market is way better than any online investment

TheSilentCartographer

Do they run them at 55mph since it's in California?

DMILLGT500 SS

Don’t fall for this, these electric yard mules are not ready for the road.

Ramon Arana

Can’t wait to be driving these bad boys.

Jason Lewis

Reminds me of the FTX guy

JB Alien

The unknown guy is a better public speaker than Musk. Musk is so awkward.

Stephen Humble

The unloaded range is important as well – a lot of truck runs must come back with only a partial load. The Tesla will be great on the return journey with only a small load on the trailer.

demon 1281

It sucks that his anti democracy right now elon.

Uriel Brabus

I can see this being added to amazon logistics and letting anybody be a truck driver

Sergey Pavlov

Why can't Elon make a hydrogen truck? Toyota does everything. Tesla has money now. Tesla must develop all directions.

Aby Alex

I think we have a winner.

Jamaican Me Crazy

How much will the range decrease fully loaded going over hills?

Aussie Man

This demo does not prove anything until real companies actually get them and put them to the test. This seems like a PR stunt to boost Tesla shares.

More Superior Than Coal

Clearly simply show, state, display: total vehicle weight, total battery weight, total cargo weight, total non operational hours in a 24-hour cycle. crickets crickets crickets.

Jason Langpaap

I would like to see this thing pull a smooth bore milk tanker with 6000 gallons of skim milk lol
