Fact or Fiction?… SUNY Maritime’s training ship, Empire State has run aground

[ QUOTE=richardsmith ; 72097 ] Yes the ship ran into break urine coming into the azores, but it besides ran aground leaving the pier in N.Y. there trying to cover that one up. I was up on the bridge when both happened just got home from my summer sea term as a cadet. The Capt was Richard Smith and has absolutely no commercial enterprise on a training ship he puts a lot of lives in danger. The school is truly taking a turn for the worst. Demerits is more important than ship treat and thats why sol many 3rd mates from maritime are getting fired or getting injured on the speculate. Plus the coast guard license passing rate is hapless and continuing to decline each class. New admiral ( Wendy “ the man ” Carpenter ) has the faulty ideas she is trying to make the school like the dark blue academy and could careless about producing some choice third gear mates. At this point it is condom to say the school is no longer what it used to be. After speaking with maritime calibrate who is now a captain I learned that he had to fire all three of his nautical 3rd mates do to them knowing nothing. This is the like guy who when we ran a ground in between the whitestone and throggs neck bridge put the vessel at half ahead while the captain is away on deck trying to teach the admiral about the transport. Absolute shit show and very embarrassing. [ /QUOTE ]
Believe me, every class thinks that the school is going to shit immediately behind them. every. Single. class. It is the same everywhere, for any institution. Things were constantly well when you were there, or you managed to arrive equitable in time to watch it burn. You know what ? We said the like farce about Craine, and Ryan before him, and had a deputy Commandant we called “ Lord Helmet ”. We said the lapp farce about demerits and the regiment, and cadet set to handle a mate put. Everyone predicted certain sentence at the following sour. We heard the same farce from classes ahead of us and alumni. It ’ s about like one-upsmanship to see who had it worse and fantasize about how big it once was, whenever that was, 1875 possibly ?

The only time to be concerned about a cadet is when he stops bitching.

But what most bothers me, is that you seriously come off as person with an ax to grind and obviously lack have and perspective. possibly you got kicked off cruise. possibly you racked up a crowd of demerits ( then again, no one escapes demerits on cruise, therefore deal with it ). But whatever it is, it ’ randomness constantly person else ’ s blame international relations and security network ’ triiodothyronine it ? If you aren ’ deoxythymidine monophosphate a 1/c that got kicked off early, you ’ re either a MUG or 2/c ( having finished the beginning 45 ), which means at best you ’ re alone center through your education, or at worst a mere MUG who scantily knows what he got himself into. So who are you to determine what the educate “ used to be ” ? If you ’ re a 2/c, why didn ’ t you cadet-ship ? Or was that the school ’ randomness mistake excessively ? When I was there, cadet slots were based strictly on grades and regimental record, and they ’ ve alone added more slots since. Your narrative is painting quite the picture already and only makes your stake more calumniatory and revengeful.

Do us all a favor – get your license, get a job, and get some experience, and then and only then you will have some position to opine about your time at the Dome. Any graduate from any academy knows absolutely shit until all three of those things happen ; you ’ ll realize that pretty quickly. I don ’ t normally like to bash the confidence of cadet ’ mho coming out, but that ’ s the accuracy, and if you didn ’ t hear it here, you surely will hear it soon adequate after getting your ticket. The educate supports you and provides the education for you to get the license, which is still up to you to achieve and you are entirely responsible to make yourself a good checkmate. In this industry, success or failure is based on attitude more than anything. In light of the tone of your post, that might be something you ’ ll want to work on between immediately and then if you tied make it that far .
