I have a 1993 R129 500SL. Everything you said about this era is correct. Thank you sir.

100% Almost bought one, but decided a Volvo 850R was more interesting…It was! Many years of stupid driving and under-the-radar-hoolganism, but needs a rebuild after a lot of track days and clipping EvoIVs. The door stays look the same as the Merc! Swedish Mercedes. Both great cars, but the Merc is built better. Mercedes fan first-most, but the Volvo gave me more for them oney. The newer Mercs are plastic shit. No longer a fan…but Volvo…They really are trying their best in a sea of shit!

On today's episode, Mr. Regular meets Mr. Regular Jr!

My parents had a 1987 200 Diesel with manual transmission, and it was the first car I drove after I got my license. After 475.000 kilometers it was beginning to have some rust related issues from the wet and salty climate of Scandinavia, but the car was always very comfortable and pleasant to drive.

Thank you for recording all those car sounds without talking. That was the best part of this video.

Pffft

Had a 1975 450se that I sold back about 1997. Only time I’ve actually shed a tear regarding a car was when the new owner drove it away.

My father had a W124 2.5D taxi. He retired in 2010 and it was still going strong. Kept it as his every day vehicle. Factory motor was replaced at 1.6M kilometers. I sold it in 2015 after his passing. Still regret this decision.

As a german, what happened to our build quality?? That was literally the hallmark of Mercedes and BMW of this era. Globalization of the product and trying to add more features while remaining competitive cost wise? I seriously don't know what happened to cars like this. I'd trade all the car tech for doors that just feel hefty and safe. That SUNROOF the way it opened was just perfection. What happened to the deep obsession with quality? This thing still looks like it came out of Stuttgart the day it was built. I doubt the ones made today in OHIO last that long.

I wish more buy it for life products were made, we wouldn't have so much waste.

Too bad an idiot like you is discussing such a successful and beautiful car!!!

Lawnmower American

Owned a 92 400E for a few years. Loved it.

Cosmic Debris

4:06 I don't think one needed to hold the button continuously to open or close the sunroof, merely push it briefly in either direction and it would close by itself.

Tantaroba

Ah man, i had a 300D Turbo for some time.
Same color, 150Hp, cruise control, AC, very rare Recaro seats with heating and cooling back in 1993.

I miss that benz

Corporate McMahon

What a sicko!

How utterly ridiculous American: "Where are the cup holders?"…. to my calorie bomb of a drink.

Jay B

He needs to drive a 80s to 90s VOLVO

overindulgence

Why would you not change the original registration?

The Adventures of Red19

Top episode and excellent observations. I get it!

Someone retrofitted the headlights with Euro’s. Those aren’t stock US headlights . Had a few of these w124’s. One of the best sedans I’ve ever driven

RCBM

Interesting way of using the ‘A’ pillar to enter the driving position. I’ve never seen that before and I don’t do it myself. Fascinating to watch someone develop a subliminal habit that they’re probably not aware they’re doing but that others notice.

'I plan for your mistakes'

I’m curious as to the suspension … bilsteins B4? I drive a ‘94 C124 coupe (second owner) and the Sachs brand shocks and struts don’t give as smooth a ride as yours. You’re considered opinion would be most definitely appreciated. Thanks Dougie from Australia 🇦🇺

I personally don't allow people with cups in my c124

My mother got a pristine 5yo 1980 280e grey market from Germany for less than we'd have paid for a Camry. It sounded just like. So solid.
