You have every right to set boundaries. Clearly you are a kind person for not wanting to create a scene in public and for showing empathy and compassion to this woman's husband. You are not responsible for her disrespectful behavior and neither is her husband. He is an adult and can choose to walk away. You have every right to assert yourself when someone is messing with your dog. Your dog is your responsibility.
I was livid too when you told that story!!! I completely understand why you would be upset. My little Buster bear Is diabetic. He has to have insulin twice a day and we have to check his levels he is on a very strict diet giving him food that's not on that could literally kill him. I have to say though even if I had a healthy dog, The nerve of the woman to just ignore your wishes and throw food in the air for your dog to take so pisses me off. I think of my little dog just like I do one of my children, You have more self restraint than I do God bless you…. 😂

Buy a spray that has glue inside and plug it into the air plug of the tires and push it. It will help you for a long time. Go to auto parts they sale it.
Quick and easy way to season cast iron is to coat it with cooking oil put it on high heat or over a fire and let it burn in and make sure you have an oven met for the heat and use a paper towel with your oil and lightly coat the pan again while warm and let it sit. Should have a nice sheen on it.

Just had one thing to help you out with, you are using your JetBoil the wrong way. You should always light your gas without the JetBoil Cup sitting on top. Never light or turn on your gas with the Cup sitting on top. It will blow back fire when you do as gas get stuck up under the cup. I’ve done this in the past and it burnt off my eyebrows.

Just got to your story about Blue. I have a very reactive dog who has made incredible progress but still has triggers. She was a stray for the first two years of her life and doesn’t trust humans. Small humans scare her, but through constant work and reinforcement, she’s become very sweet. Her fear is usually responded with flight, but I’ve seen her fight as well.
Recently I was at a park with my dog under a tree, and a family walked by. We exchanged hellos, and the mom asked “is your dog friendly?”. I responded that she is skittish, but they could say hello, but to greet her slowly/gently and to let her smell them first. Her son (probably 10 years old) RAN up to her and wrapped his arms around her neck, face to face and squeezed her into a bear hug. Thankfully she scooted back out of the hug and put herself behind me. The entire time I was telling her son to please be gentle. I told the boy that it’s important that he listens to dog owners because not all animals like to be hugged like that. His mom rolled her eyes at me, didn’t even reinforce my statement, and they walked off. Similarly, the husband was apologetic. I will never understand not respecting an owners boundaries with their dogs. Thankfully Odessa has come so far, but it could have been a really unfortunate experience had they approached us earlier on in our journey together.
Your brother is correct. Seasoning a cast iron is not difficult but should be done. I have a cast iron that is maybe half the size of yours and I love it! Wow, on the road I can make real food like cooked salmon and the cast iron cooks it amazing well. Used it on my 14,000km road trip from Ontario to Nevada this summer and was so happy with my cooking results (which is rare).
Yes. I hear stories of this and people trying to feed or pet guide dogs which is a no no. Ive had friends dogs have to go to surgery repetedly, feeding grapes or chocolate or human food from family or strangers that dont know dog diets or didnt ask the owner. Disaster.

The only cast iron I've ever had luck with was the one that was given to me that belonged to an older family member and it had been used for many many years. Stupidly I gave it to my son and now I wish I had it. I bought one that was supposed to be preseason but absolutely everything sticks to it and it has a rough surface. I hate it. Wish I would have kept my old one LOL. Just make sure if you cook anything in it that is liquidy that you reseason it. Pam or non-stick cooking spray can be your best friend. 🖐️😊‼️😄 I just subbed.

Maria. Look into purchasing a 12 volt fridge for your Subaru! I have one, and you don't need to worry about ice constantly, but you still can use ice packs or some ice if you want! My Karen was named Margie, and she did the very same thing to me when I told her my dog was not allowed on the furniture (she invited him into the guest bed with her) and that I didn't feed him people food (she did right in front of me). She was staying with me at the behest of my visiting Kiwi friend, ostensibly for a "long weekend" that extended into two weeks of hell. She never did reimburse me for gas, and told me to 'pound sand' when I told her I needed the money she promised. She's dead now, from pancreatic cancer.

I love Border Collies and Australian Shepherds. Blue looks about 1.5X the size he should be. Guess that happens when a working dog can't work. Might consider training him to stay by you so things don't happen.

Cast iron isn't a big deal people over complicated it unnecessary. Old cowboys and settlers and campers used cast iron for centuries on camp fires Seasoning just means oil it and heat it up really good upon first use. The cast iron absorbs oil and protects it so food don't stick. After that use it like any other pan just a little spray oil before cooking. Just don't wash all the oil out after cooking. No big deal. Over time it gets better as oil absorbs into iron its seasoned(oiled). Let it dry over heat and keep it oiled so it don't rust.

I would never feed so.eone else's dog without asking first. Especially living in a car, ypu don't have the luxury of waiting out occasionally dog tummy issues!
When I got my first cast iron, I just threw in a bit of butter and then used it to cook. Then rinse with water and done. As long as ypu don't use soap, you will be fine!
Cast iron cooking – never simmer tomato based foods soups or sauce, okay to sauté tomatoes in it though. Otherwise cast iron is amazing for everything else. 🤘
