I think very highly of you guys as an audience – and wouldn't expect this from you guys – but please refrain from any hateful comments directed toward the other party. Mistakes happen – and we are all thankful to have walked away from the crash. Losing the car is upsetting – but cars can be replaced.
There are several factors that lead to the crash. The biggest is that there was no visibility for the driver attempting to pull into a turnout on the opposite side of the road. He gambled that he could make that turn without being certain the road was clear. However, speed was definitely a factor for the Porsche. Timing is everything in a collision like this. Had you been driving slower there is a chance you could have braked and nearly missed them. Had you been driving slower you wouldn't have gotten to that portion in the road at the exact same time as them. For the haters that think I'm just some keyboard warrior, I used to go and drive and ride spiritedly on some well known Bay Area roads, gotten plenty of points in that time.
You hadeled that way better than I would have. Kudos to you and glad no one was hurt but that was an avoidable thing the other driver did.
How dumb do you think people are? You drive a Porsche GT3 on a public road like you’re on the track and then blame other drivers when you crash into them. The only morons out there are the ones who actually think you aren’t partly responsible for this accident.

Not saying that's the reason the vulnerable bikes did – but did they foreseen the impending tragedy?
You should also thank the German safety system engineers (ABS VSC SRS etc etc) for protecting you and your girl.

I doubt the Porsche was doing the posted 30mph speed limit. I also do not believe there wasn't any footage of the collision. If the footage is incriminating of course there is none available.

Car seems to be totaled? brand new: front bumper assembly – radiator – headlight – fender = brand new car.

How do people crash at 30 miles per hour? Go to Canada in the Okanogan … tons or roads better than Tail of the dragon with 100 km speed limits.

I would be surprised if they would total the car on paper but I am sure glad you and your GF and the folks in the truck are relatively okay. You can't replace people, cars are replaceable even if you love them. I hope you come out financially hole on this situation whatever happens.
