After driving the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla, Automotive Engineer David Chao walked away in awe and inspiration as it’s hard to believe that Toyota has designed and produced a car like this. David drove all 3 variations of the GR Corolla (Core, Circuit, and Morizo) both on the road and the track, and provides complete feedback of the car. David talks about both great things as well as attributes that Toyota needs to improve. This an Engineer’s Full Review of the 2023 GR Corolla.

For the low low price of $60k out the door you can own a Corrolla hatch. I truly love this car but dealers are going to destroy the value factor.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
😝 Subaru is coming, Toyota tied our hands. it's not really an all weather car with summer tires and a few inches of ground clearance. How would you say the rc compares to the supra
It would be even better if it can get 60 MPG. Yes?
Looks like a very firm ride, can you comment on the ride quality?
Would you say that it's firmer than a Golf R?
How would it compare to a Veloster N in terms of ride quality?
Is the car stiff for daily use? I live in Quebec and roads are not not great here. Appreciate your opinion.
The GR Corolla actually has the longest wheelbase of the GR86 and Supra
Thank you for the insightful video review! Like you stated if one can get one…will probably have a touch of "unobstainium" due to rarity. I foresee the dealers putting hefty market adjustment like they do with the Honda Civic Type R. Just the current car market.
I better title for the thumbnail "Engineer speechless after trying to buy this car for MSRP!"
Can be driven in snow unlike the 86 and supra?
The person in their gr86 on the 1st snow day the other day: hold my beer
I think Toyota is being foolish for deciding to limit production units for the GR Corolla…
This creates an environment where the dealerships will add markups and take away massive profits from Toyota.
this guy's shifting also shakes, i guess my shifting is totally normal.
The only bad 👎 thing about the Toyota Corolla GTR is unfortunately Toyota will not be making enough of them to go around. Stand by for outrageous dealer mark ups and instantaneous aftermarket for profit resales. It's a very cool little pocket rocket 🚀.
A turbo means more maintenance in the long term. What’s your experience with Toyota turbos?
It's very inspiring and reminds me alot of the Civic Type R.
What's dealer markup
David definitely appreciate your expertise on this amazing car!
When do you think they will start delivering them to the US and Canada?
It sits behind the Civic Type-R and Golf R in my book in hot hatch category. Though I do like Toyota building the car. I would love to see them build a new MR2 with that motor. Make it sub 3000lbs and not a stupid Spyder.
Love this car!!!
Thanks David!
Not your father’s Corolla just wow 👍
Did you work for Toyota R&D?
Loved the intro!
Thanks David, very interesting video and .it looks like a lot of fun to drive. I surprised to hear has a three cylinder engine. Interesting.👍
Can Toyota capture performance driver feedback ? Sure is ugly and a 3 banger ? 😆😆
Thanks, for bringing us along for the ride. You do a great job with these videos, David! 👍
David, I hope some day you get to drive the original GR Yaris so you can do a direct comparison. In the meantime, good luck getting a GR Corolla of your own🤩
Can you review the new Civic Type R?
Yea I can tell.
I think the light steering is intentional in a rally car since you have to make quick turns all the time
what engineer? aerospace engineer or structural engineer haha
Cute but I will stick with my GLK350 4matic😂

You said it best, it's amazing that Akio Toyoda made this happen at all. I'm glad to hear how you enjoyed the handling, as I've heard from other folks it has mild understeer issues.
Thanks for the overview
I'm a huge fan of the GR Corolla (I am on a list) to replace my 2014 Fiesta ST (bought it new!)
Which one is fastest on the track. Do you have your track times for the gr 86 vs gr Supra vs gr Corolla?
