Last week I covered the ‘regular’ Tesla Model 3 and it was great. But what if you’re like me, and you want more performance? Well, Tesla makes a version for just that, aptly named the Model 3 Performance, and this week I have a go.

Good review! So you want a slower mustang with lag in torque just for sound 😳 To each their own but your reasoning is odd to me 🤨 🤷🏼♂️
Lmao any car u buy and love = that you are a car enthusiast.
Good thing this video was made 2 years ago! Because ain’t no way , I’m picking a mustang over a Tesla!! That’s molding the future 🤫
That 'visceral response' you're refering to is either the sound or a manual/flappy gearbox. The sound…well, yeah it's something, but you could almost replicate it with the stereo and the flappy gearbox is not improtant when you're seeing stars from your visual cortex smashing into the back of your skull.
Only way I'll ever consider a electric car is if they added some kind of futuristic sound to the acceleration. The lack of noise is just too mundane.
In watch collector’s terms it kind of reminds me of the difference between a mechanical watch and a quartz watch. Quartz is irrefutable better as a time-keeping device but lacks the mechanical properties that is part of the emotional experience of a watch.
Nothing can match fun of ICE cars.
You are a real car enthusiasts. Keep going
It's not an emotional connection. Drivers talk about Value, Safety, Technology, Acceleration, The Future. Don't hear much about engaging driver experiences though, when it comes to a Tesla.
I totally agree with you. But a base model tesla with full self-driving is still $48000.. leaving only 12k for a petrol car. 🙁 I think if the base Tesla with full self driving was cheaper like closer to 40k i'd buy it in a heart beat. Great review
Yeah, ICE cars aren't very impressive to me either. I want a horse and buggy on the weekend while I'm driving it and developing my skills and having a sense of accomplishment. And driving something that just makes noise, but I can't hear the clippity clop of the hooves and feeling that raw power doesn't do it for me. And why would I want something that expels CO2 and doesn't pollute the environment enough. I need 100% horseshit as the exhaust to have the pure satisfaction of a fun car on the weekend. Bring back stagecoaches while we're at it pleeeease!
That was a fantastic review, thank you.
You gave a fair and considered review of the Tesla and one can understand the yearning for the Theatre and Visceral feelings that a good ICE
car can reveal via the sounds and vibrations that only they provide to the driver. One has to agree with you that the best of both worlds is Tesla
on a weekday and ICE on the weekend with the joy of knowing your Tesla is saving you the $$$ to let you party on ICE Saturday & Sunday.
strange road/area to conduct a test drive for a tesla.
This is not teslas first car LMAO – theyve been around for years
Tesla M3P isn’t fun to drive? And u’d rather drive a mustang??? Unsubscribing!
Good honest review. Im currently due to receive my M3P mid march and am super excited. Personally I was on the fence until I test drove it Switzerland while working. To me the comparison isn't fair. EVs are the future there is no doubt. But ICE has heritage. Driving a Manual straight 6 turbo is engaging and fun … blipping the throttle down shifting and flooring out of a corner and accelerating to the top of your rev band is super fun. With the Tesla its integration and technology. I love clean aesthetics, the inherent performance capability, the amazing infotainment and the premium sound system, autopilot etc.. I opted for the M3P knowing quite well what I was giving up and to me its a clear as daylight choice between the past and the future. As much as the past was fun its still a known quantity .. the sensations are known to me. The Tesla and EVs in general are something that I want to discover in detail. Its still an unknown and thats exciting. I think we owe it to the next gen to keep pushing this sort of disruptive tech forward.
This was very informal. I am a
Older than you but agree with you. I think it will take some time to get used to electric vehicles.
My butt makes fun and unique noises, come I will show you!
Tesla model 3 ,you will save a lot of money on gas ,no oil changes, fluids or other maintenance that you normally do on a car that has a motor in . Over all is a win !! and its faster then many sports cars.
In short no it can't! Why even compare. Electrics are another transportation species just as trains and buses are different from traditional performance ICE cars. And yes you have super fast trains for example. Even if they share same roads infrastructure with petrol performance cars it is apples and oranges for an enthusiast.
Honest guy + Mountain road = good review
Just posted my delivery of the Tesla model 3 Performance!
It must be super exciting to go and get gas, smell of gas fumes, burn it all up and do it again just to have the aural stimulation from an inefficient motor. Woohoo.
Kinda agree with just buying the base Tesla Model 3. After test driving both the Model S P100D and Model X P100D… the incredible acceleration is just one of a myriad of amazing features of these cars. Sure… buy the performance if you can afford it, but the base Model 3 Standard + is incredible in itself. I'd settle for a Honda VFR750 (motorbike) as my weekend 'fun' vehicle. Acceleration is about the same as the Model 3 Performance.
