German here. The US got these only as Automatic? That's crazy
I just checked and on the German Market alone there are right now 340 of these for sale as Manuals and not too expensive either.
Here in Germany Automatic MK5 R32s are super rare because back then most German Brands pretty much only sold Manuals, especially for Cars like this. Funny how rare Manuals are in general in the US, i wonder if that's because in Germany it's pretty much normal to do your Driving License learning Manual, and learning with an Automatic is usually an Option that then is intermixed with you learning Manual. But getting a License without learning Manual is impossible.

Always fun to learn about the Differences.

A true PA legend – Sheetz parking lots and their patrons fear the sound of a 2-step R32 as it crests the atmosphere to the nearest diner on 248.

The MK5 Golf GTI and R32 is arguably the best looking Golf's looking back at how extra old it is it really didn't age , if it came out today with just infotainment and guage cluster upgrades and LED lights you wouldn't even know

Just one of the best endings to any form of media in the history of time. Keep doing what you do. Bravo.

I'm on the fence about putting a VR6 DSG into a mk2 GTI that was manual, because then it would be auto-tragic.

still looks amazing.

Couldn't makenit halfway thru the video

These things were too heavy and were deficient of the horsepower and torque necessary to be “fast” even by 2008 standards. They handled like they were on rails, which was the curb appeal relative to a GTI, but that’s about it. Well, that and the exclusiveness of having a VR6 under the hood..

I had a rabbit 08 and my buddy had the r32 08 and what a car man what a car they were both great cars the gti was good but a naturally aspirated motor what a difference today cars don’t have the fun to drive aspect. Vw for life ✌🏽

I have an R32. this video is perfect

Bought it with 57,000 miles for 15k. I love my car but I'll never claim it's some magical beast. The truth is I love the VW platform.

Very similar to the subject car

If yall think the Golf R32 is cool, there's an entire day dedicated to it; it's called "Wookies in the Woods". Yes, that's really what the event is called.

Stop talking about the MK5 R32. The prices haven't gone crazy yet.

AS A PROUD OWNER OF ONE , THE R32 ALWAYS BRINGS A SMILE TO MY FACE….THE SUBARU AND MAZDASPEED SEEM TO JUST FALL APART OR THROW A ROD LIKE A HOOKER IN VEGAS…..I TESTDROVE A SECOND GEN MAZDASPEED 3 AND IT FELT LIKE IT WAS FALLING APART LIKE A VAXXED 25 YEAR OLD

I had one of these and by 90k miles it’s leaking oil out of four different areas, the water pump is exploding, and the car is perpetually overheating. It is an absolute nightmare to maintain a VR6 engine. Even after $3k in repairs I had to sell it

Judge

I wish VW still made a VR6. It was almost as kool as Mazda's rotary.

Honest question, which is more reliable between a golf(non r) vs a wrx. Both would stay stock

I had a friend with one of these rocking 230,000 miles. His dad was the original owner… He traded it in for a manual Yaris. Yes, we're all sad the R32 didn't come in a manual in the states, but trading it for a manual Yaris???

Jared VW Audi

I submitted my audi a3 vr6 and my mk5 gti and got no response I guess he only drives low mileage cars but mine are in just as good condition as this one I'm also from New Jersey

Shad Quirk

Wait, wait, how much is a MK5 in the states? Here in NZ you can get a good one for 14k, well worth it for a fun and well within most young peoples budgets.
