Cook the sausages in a bit of water until the inside are done, when the water boils away just brown them up!
You don't need water, just manage your heat source and fry 'em up to your liking
hi Joshua – frozen meat – put into pot of water onto flames slowly heat while doing other chores. thaw out slowly – in pan over heat, sliced onions, tomatoes, or whatever you prefer put sausages ontop and cook over moderate heat, do this when I need a quick thaw.

If the sausage is pre-cooked, just add abit of water to the pan and put the pan ABOVE the fire (low heat), that should reheat it without burning.

Little bit of water or beer. Eventually it will boil off and allow a finishing sear.
A lid helps also.
Start them on a little water as suggested below. Once the water cooks off finish up by browning them over low heat. Don't try to fry them directly over the flames but off to the side over low coals. Good luck.
I was going to say the same as Herb. Start with water to cover half way, let water boil away and then place on edge of fire and brown. Great video good to see ya.

O.K., cooking sausages: Some folks have suggested starting the sausages in water and simmering them that way until the water is gone. This is good and will work well. My suggestions start with the pan which is to say that you need a thick bottom pan which will distribute the heat evenly. Many options are available but I use the Pathfinder frying pan or the frying pan from a Stanley Even-Heat Camp Pro cook set (all of the pots in that set have a thick bottom and the frying pan is three-ply which ensures even heat). Either of these frying pans perform like magic and I'm sure that there are others but the key is to avoid thin frying pan bottoms which quickly heat and cool (don't even consider titanium for sausage). Next is to add a small amount of Olive Oil which helps smooth out the heating process and helps to avoid hot spots, sticking and allows for more even cooking. Best results are going to be with a stove that lets you simmer properly but camp fire coals (minimal or no visible flames) can work if you give full attention to the process. Pretty much all of this adds weight to your pack but you asked twice for comments on how to successfully cook sausages so there it is. Great to see you back and fully recovered from the accident. Cook the sausages in the water you used for the noodles, then brown the sausages while you cook the noodles.

I'd guess you could also use a grill basket if it was roughly the right size inside of it.
The stick idea isn't bad for the sausage but just less intense heat. I cook sausage on a medium heat at home
Post that sausage through wit a stick and stand it up next to the fire. Cook then brown it over the flames

You could turn that shelter into a super shelter. Close off the back wall completely and secure a transparent plastic on the front to trap in the heat of the fire . Might have to chink the walls with moss .

Yeah either cook it on a stick, or what I do at home is half an inch of water in your cooking surface to spread out the heat
