There are times when you have to deviate from the usual way a car is repaired, but there is also a line that a ‘repair’ becomes just insane. This 2003 G55 AMG G-Wagon has come to the CAR WIZARD’s 🧙♂️ shop with a couple of repairs that are just hack repairs and makes it dangerous to drive.

I find it interesting that they had switches on the brake lights so you could drive blacked out. Easier solution would be to put the switch hooked to the brake switch (unless of course the computer requires it for anti locking / similar).
If I was to install something like that I'd probably have control of it from the cabin.
As for loading on new brake / indicator etc lights, a BC548 transistor, small relay, resistor , diode and some wire would fix this with very minimal load (comes in handy if you want to add aux brake lights which draw a lot)
Why mercedes insists on being unnecessarily complicated with sensors and other tech is beyond me
A real mcguyver to fix. The lights
Good video , thanks for being honest guy
C wheel. Drugs put inside of tire? Damn, was wrong.
Good quality LEDs use less power than most stock lights
Calling a G-Wagon beautiful is a bit of a stretch at best.
Sam I am!
C) Wheel issue
My 2001 s-class had that problem. I fixed the rear SAM instead.
What a piece of crap.
Modern day 4×4 really are not off-road vehicles at all.
Stay in the mall parking lots.
Ford Explorer has better fit and finish. Just my opinion.
lol…i love weezard but running a trap off the front to fix rear, sam or no sam relay or no relayt..hardly genius..re; front. are u calling hub "fingers"another way to fix the out of round on the go is loosen lugs drive vehice just a few yards and it will center itself, stop tighten lugs or get car whjeels bslanced on vehicle….also there is a b ack channel between sams you could used an existing physical path and a software path too. , 3rd solution get ecm and sams from donar g wagon for 90 bucks at pick ur part
Was this vehicle acquired at a police auction?
Looking at the pattern, I think there is a very real possibility that this was used by a mule crossing the border. They may have taken apart and put the vehicle back together.
This could be a problem is someone driving this vehicle is pulled over and sniffer dogs alert.
If not that, them maybe it went through a chop shop.
Pity I'm not local – would love to take my cars to Omega, but alas, no. I need a Car Wizard.
6:00 loool
NOT interested in the INTERIORS
Cartel wagon lol. They always up to shaddy business
Thought Sam no.2 you turned into a flux capacitor!!
Agreed.
I was a backyard mechanic, then a drywall hanger, then a mechanic, then a machinist in a hydraulics shop, then an amplifier and guitar tech, and now I'm a mechanic again. I've come full circle I guess you could say. Lol.
Yes. With how complicated electrical systems are in cars these days most times that's the only thing that can be done.
I've swapped wheels without swapping the rings. Scary for mile until I realized I'm an idiot. Can we get a vid of the bus in the background? 🥺
Wait a second… is the battery for a GWagon located inside the center console? WTF Germans?
Who's your dutch equivalent, Wizard? Hope i'll find him one day so he can work on my cars!
You really have some gift. Thanks Alex for showing me your channel.
please either fix that crooked bumper or burn the car down to the ground its doing my hed in
Well done bud
The Germans believe in complex engineering; years ago I worked on SL 250 or 280 pagoda roof 2 door convertible hard top vehicle. It had the early 4 speed auto trans. It had a wonderful looking but very complex throttle linkage for the automatic trans kickdown; beautiful to look at, chrome plated rods and bell crank pivots and untold amounts of adjustments to the linkage rods.
The problem was that it had a complex adjustment process that you had to follow, measurements and adjustments; i.e., a to b, c to d etc. If you didn't follow the procedure exactly, either idle was wrong or the trans might not downshift when the accelerator was floored.
The Americans and Japanese vehicles had a single kick down rod or cable with only one or two adjustments, but that was not the German way. And to top it off, if I remember correctly, (its probably close to 40+ years ago) it mentioned using tools that whose only use was to place it between a certain rod and insure that it fir correctly.. the Germans might be great at engineering; but, simple is not part of their vocabulary. I worked with German cars on and off in dealerships for 40+ years…
Sadly the shop i work at wont allow thay wheel repair to be done. Corporate would flip. The wiring thing would be doable.
I would love to open a shop like yours. Not so much the high end cars, maybe one day but the respecting the customer and giving them a fair price.
brush guard is crooked
His comprehension of everything is amazing to me 👏🏼
I would bring my Challenger to your shop anytime! Another shop with the same philosophy in quality and price is Automotive Specialties in Dallas – in case you ever need someone to help out your customers in a different state. Art and Steve (owners) are the best there! Please keep doing videos, I really enjoy them!!! It is great to watch real professoinals like you who also don't pull customers over the barrel.
Very nice job with the wheels 👍🏻
i think b
I had a flat on one of my BBS wheels. I brought just the wheel to the tire shop to be fixed. When I got home I noticed the hubcentric ring was missing. I went back and the tire guy used a punch to destroy the retaining clip to take it and the ring out. He said it had to be balanced that way. Then threw the clip and hubcentric ring away like nothing happened, and never told me.
wizard you are great christian man, God Bless you and your family. Love your stuff thanks for teaching me something today I have issue with my G side mirrors after I installed professional g mirrors, will just unplug the connection at the SAM and it shouldnt throw the code
I had a feeling it was going to be this issue with the hub. Different model benz with me though, customer bought 4 wheel spacers for aftermarket wheels, but didn’t read carefully that the wheel spacers were for the rear hubs only and front hubs required different style spacers. He cut the ring off the front hub so they would fit.
Should be called a J wagon for JUNK! I hate Benz they suck! Sold high end luxury cars for 20+ years. Benz, 🤢🤢🤢🤮
id rather not have the flashing logo in the bottom corner.
..Always the wheel/rim must b centered by the Hub-
This Video proves the o me how much of a car Wizard you are.
At the speed you said it's almost always wheel balance. That doesn't mean it is the problem.
Mercedes tech for 6 years here. What I can say from my experience is the G wagon is the Honda Civic in the Benz world. They are all so hacked up and sketchy modified. Not a shocker someone cut up the hubs to fit those aftermarket rims
