Here’s the Talon video before this one.

In this video, we fix a ton of issues on the carbon fiber race car Talon but it all comes crashing down with catastrophic engine issues. Comment what engine you’ve blown up.

Man, I wanted to go for a ride! WTH

Reme Jeffrey Simon

Now i'm here. 😎

Thinks you guys need to be looking at that oil pump b4 you try starting it again. Loose pick-up in front of the pump?

Gary Lucas

27:59 hahaha, me too bro

Brad Miles

With everything you found loose on the car, as much as I hate to say it. I'd tear it down and start from the beginning so you know everything is as it's supposed to be. I know it sucks, but you will never know what is loose where unless you dig into it.

tirabbi rabbi

So if Peter found this car does that make it Peters car? How does it work in your workshop???

gocco924

Can the cam belt tensioner be a hydraulic one, so when the oil pressure drop, the cam belt tensioner looses its tension as well? But that would be a dangerous design, and Japanese do not design like that. Probably not eh?

whitetailfox1

Hey Alex check and see if the car has the factory hydraulic tensioner for the timing belt. If it does it's a good idea to switch to a manual one that uses a bolt to make it tight. This will make you you never jump timing.

Richard Schafer

I'd say the oil pump pulley bolt is out it drives off the belt

Dean Schumacher

I think the engine is still good if tht were my ride I would pull the engine and go through it to make sure and you will also see what kind of build the engine is with tht E85 in there for so long no telling what it could do to seals also would make great content with y'all's jokes lol I know whatever happens it's gonna be very interesting and I'm watching keep up the great vlogs

Blake Nic

5w30 is pretty thin for a 4g isn’t it? I use to run 10w60 in my built evo but still maintaining close to stock oil clearances.

Phillip Claridge

It is a really great looking car but I REALLY hate the carbon fibre look,

Daniel Duchon

Really love this series/build! 🤘Hope everything turns out good! 🙏

Derek Crane

Low oil pressure is normal at b idle. Might want to check the adjustable cam gears too they v like to loosen and walk

Alastair Bell

You might want to read the instructions for the Autronic. Once the initial setup is done, all changes to timing and tune are done through a laptop computer. The software is available on the Autronic website free. You will probably need a serial to USB adapter.

I’m loving this project. I was screaming that flashing light was a code lol,,,, I also noticed early in footage that belt was not tight. Can’t wait to hear your analysis on the cause.

Gator Man

You guys need to get them cars going and have a competition, drag race and track!

Gator Man

Sounds like sensor problems.. only half way through hopefully it’s not worse.

Alastair Bell

I run a Autronic SMC in my Evo 3 Mitsubishi which has the 4g63 engine in your car. The Autronic is made by Richard Aubert in Australia. I get 370 kw Atw in my car.

These fast and the furious eagle talon videos are up at the top of my favorite videos on this channel.
I hope you guys get her fixed and keep it as a sister to the eclipse. You will never find another talon with all that carbon fiber, built engine and awd. I would love to own that unit. “She’s a beaut Clark!”

Dsms use a spring loaded hydraulic filled auto timing tensioner. A car with aggressive valve springs and cams will generally have a loose belt when you shut the vehicle off depending on where the cam lobes fall relative to the base circle. The timing tension should be set with cylinder 1 (cylinder closest to timing belt) at top dead center. When the engine is at TDC you should be able to insert a timing tensioner grenade pin into the body of the tensioner and you should have approximately a 1/8 inch gap between the tensioner body and bottom of tensioner pulley arm. As for verifying base timing the ecu needs to be locked to verify correct ignition timing. The injectors you have are low impedance and will most likely drive like poop as it's old technology and they are fairly large. The rear diff on that car is not lsd it's a bfb which is open diff if you had a bfh that would be viscous lsd. As for the clutch that is 100% normal for it to sound the way it does as its a twin disc and has a floater plate between the disc's that floats and rattles when the clutch pedal is pressed. Hopefully you received the correct clutch master cylinder as they need to be marked as 7/8 bore to work correctly with the pedal geometry in a 2g dsm and the clutch pedal should have 1/2 inch of pedal free play. You should be able to go underneath the car and push the slave cylinder piston back into the body when it's adjusted correctly. For your oil pressure issues dsms should be running 20w50 weight oil. If you guys want actual dsm advice from someone with 10+ years of dsm and evo experience I'd be glad to help.

You guys really are a blast! 😂 You need to come out with the next video! I am so curious to see how this ends! (Hopefully well!) 👍
