Join us as we venture out of our comfort zone and try pub car park “stealth camping” for the first time. We’ve only used campsites so far, so this is definitely a new experience for us. It’s both nerve-wracking and exciting!

The pub we found had the extra benefit of being very close to the Roman attractions of Caerleon in South Wales. We managed to dodge the Great British weather and walk to the amphitheatre and explore the museums before decided on staying in the pub car park for the night.
The best thing (we think) about this novel way of camping is pubs are everywhere, and usually have something nearby to explore.
There’s a bunch of ways to find pubs that allow parking overnight for vans, campers and motorhomes. Britstops, Park4Night & Search4sites are three good options that we are looking to explore more. We found the Ship Inn via Search4Sites initially and went in to ask whether we could stay.
It was an exciting first park up that we hope will be the first of many and a stepping stone to wild park ups. We don’t think we will ever qualify as a stealth van, but will be looking for more interesting park ups – any ideas do let us know.
We hope you enjoy.

Hey everyone. We hope you enjoyed watching. It was an interesting first foray into different park ups for us.
We just wanted to point out the food at The Ship Inn was incredible: Rich had the hunters chicken and Kelly had the pulled pork chips side (which was as big as a main so Rich got to eat some of that too). We just forgot to film it as was hungry.
It was great to be so close to the sites of Caerleon too. We can really see how pub stops could unlock more site seeing and experiences. Let us know if you’ve stayed anywhere interesting.
Let us know if you’ve stopped over in a pub, or whether you’d like to see more content like this.
Thanks so much for watching. Take care ❤
Your duck impression was impressive mate, 😂
G’day Rich , Kelly and Lilly that was great you make me laugh that was good very interesting ware you went the Roman ruins I would love to see that one thing about the UK it is steeped in history. You three really crack me up I’m building a coal fired locomotive which is 71/4 gauge so that takes up most of the time, I always look forward to seeing your blogs anyway I’ll try and get sum sleep the codeine helps with pain and makes me sleepy take care it is always great to see you from your friend down under John
Awesome fun video.
Nice video, I learned from this Romans made into wales! they were not so welcomed in Cornwall from what I gather.
That it now, start of many a cheap stop over
Yay! Fab fun times! Well done on popping your pub stop cherry! We’ve not been to Caerleon so that’s one for the list thank you 😍😎👍🏻
Morning Guys. Glad you had fun. For Lily’s Roman project, have you been to Chedworth Roman Villa? It’s an original site, with lots of original Roman stuff, but it was recreated in Victorian times. It may be more interesting for her to look at buildings rather than just looking at ruins. It’s just north of Cirencester (which also has a Roman museum and amphitheatre) a short way from the Fosse Way (also Roman!).
Nice
What a great location. Free overnight parking…it would never happen here ! Glad Lily enjoyed the Roman museum x
Very nice, have fun ❤❤❤❤
