My God that’s a busy spot. On our trips my wife and I wouldn’t see a sole in a week. Unless we where in a park. The back country is much nicer and the fishing is better. Good luck. Thanks 👍🇨🇦
I can’t believe the size of your tent. Are you expecting company? 🇨🇦
Prospector
HOI 15.8 superb canoe
This is a realy lovely video thank you in these strange times
Where is this river, Australia, UK, USA?
Half my family came from Wales. I'd like to walk about in it. Perhaps I'll rent a canoe if it's summer.
im from Norway , the most popular canoe brand in Norway is "Hasle" , they have a model called Hasle 520 and it has a very good reputation for beeing rugged , its rotomolded
I visited this area in 2017 and canoed this same stretch in 2018, I got out right down in Symons Yat…absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing your experience
Hello from Springfield Missouri, USA, beautiful river there, actually looks very similar to some rivers right here in my home area.
Have you considered trying out kayaks? I just got a sit on top style, it's an "Ascend 128T Yak Power ". (searh YouTube to see one) Very stable and huge storage areas.
Best wishes to you both!
what camp sites did you stay at ????
boss video mate
Nicely filmed and great sound quality. Good luck with your canoe buying, I still use my plywood canoe built in 1970 16 feet two man and solos like a dream
That was awesome to watch. Great film and a great river. Looking to do this trip myself in the summer. What's the tent and which canoe did you end up going for?
Canoe recommendation: Old Town Rogue River 154 SS I bought one and it is great! Also, I highly recommend to coat the keel and bottom with Durabak smooth truck bed liner for additional protection.
I just can't watch this one – the video picture is pulled out, I guess it's to give an impression of being wide screen but all the software has done is pulled the picture out so everything now looks out of shape (i.e a square would look like a rectangle)
Am i the only one hearing the GOT theme song in this vid?
best all around canoe Mad River Explorer 15, I have used 3, bought, sold and missed, rebaught. The mad river Malicite is more fun but kind if shakkiw. Enhoyed your adventure, thanks
Everyone has their own idea for camping, as soon as I see people in close proximity I ask myself whats the point? but thats obviously just my "Brains opinion" taking over, Great video
Find and read Bill Masons path of the paddle , or anything buy Ray Goodwin , his Canoe book is excellent for all round guide to canoeing . these books explain canoe shapes and uses, most people go for a prospector hull shape , and if your going to tandom and or solo around 15 ' is a good length (not all companies call it a prospector) these are both good on rivers and flat water like lakes. do not buy a coleman , bloody shit, do not buy a fiberglass boat, tosh! Don't worry about company names find a boat that suit you, more importantly at a price that suit you, a bare 2nd hand boat can go for £700, many canoes shops do try out days on local water, but old town, Robson, nova craft , are soild boats. and have somewhere to store it, a rack or shusch like. learn how to do a J stoke/ sweep stroke/ a draw / skulling draw and learn a few how to self resuce techniques. hope that helps lovely video, mate, keep on keeping on
Hi Brian. Thanks for another great video. I'm planning on doing a similar trip later on in the summer. This would be the first time I've done anything like and have no idea of cost. How much do you think I should budget for two people on a three day trip?
Great vid! Would recommend the Sea Eagle Razorlite two man Kayak. Recently picked on up – it's inflatable, but looks and feels like a ridged body. Handles pretty well too.
Nice trip B & E 🙂 I hope you found the right canoe to buy, although the one you used in the vid seemed pretty good 🙂 Nice to be outdoors and enjoying the countryside.
Great film fella. I was thinking about the canoe question. I always wanted a plastic boat for canoeing but I've recently changed my mind with a little 2 year old. The weight of the fibreglass boats is much lighter:). I've looked at apache canoes and some other fibre glass boats. I think these will be good enough as long as you make skid plates for the bow and stern(plenty of vids online on how to do it). If you're going to do anything of a higher grade of water than the section you did on the wye then you might want a plastic boat. Hope this is constructive:). Happy paddling:)
Why is it hard for people to get aspect ratios right? How do you upload this and not immediately see that it looks really squished?
Bacon rolls – the food of champions! Lovely video, and makes we want to return to the Wye…….
I can tell you put a lot of work into this video. Thank you for sharing.
Nice journey – nice video! Thanks for posting!
Great Vid guy's really enjoyed it. I have a 16 ft Royalex old Towm camper tracks really well.Think it would suit you both. Going to canoe the Great Glen in June. Never mind that guy's electric engine you keep the one you have in the front !!! only kidding.
whats your smock Brian? what about the logistics, were you in 2 cars with trailers, or was it through an organised Co. that picked you up at the end?
lovely vid mate, did you hire the boat? a benefit of being in a canoe is you can take quite a bit of gear, big tent etc.
Y didn't you wild camp?
A lovely video Brian! Very nicely put together. The Wye is a great river and I have been fortunate enough to have paddled it a number of times now, though thinking about it the last time I did so was back in early 2001. High time for another visit.
I watched your video of your trip with Paul Kirtley on the Spey yesterday, so you will have more of an idea of the type of canoe to buy, but I'd still suggest a 16 foot canoe of a Prospecter design, most manufacturers have a version. Don't get too hung up on canoe design though. As long as it's not so heavy that you are put off getting on the water.
Great to see you both out and enjoying messing about in a boat!
Best wishes,
Al
Really enjoyed this and for a second round.

I picked up a old discovery 158 with float blocks for £400 (2nd hand). it's heavy but cheap and built like a tank.
