This video shows you how to make your older butane stove function more efficiently like the newer ones that are being sold on the market. I showed what I did, but any changes that you make are at your own risk!
I like my butane camp stove for its convenience and how compact it is, but those 1lb butane bottles are so inefficient! When they are near empty, but not empty enough to throw them away, the flow of gas slows waaaaaay down so that all you get is a small flame! Some newer models of these stoves have a new feature that helps with this problem, but I show you how to modify an old stove to work the same way.

Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We’re part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there’s going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If your into being off-grid and boondocking, or doing dispersed camping whenever possible then you’ll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations and 12v refrigeration. Come on along, we’re happy to have your company!

In the UK you can buy gas canisters with 70% butaine, and 30% propane. Because propane freezes at a lower temperature, the gas still flow when it's cold? Like your channel.
Brilliant!
Thank you for this very practical course! You're an excellent professor!
You're a genius and it looks like gas one stole your idea! Great video! I just ordered this stove tonight.
I had one of them little stove and I put the gas bottle in? And then it wouldn't ignite so I tried a long match and I all set alight on the fire I managed to throw it in the garden and it exploded?
I like, didnt know could get 15kbtu, bought gasmate deluxe ii which is 8.5kbtu, thanks
price per # from butane an propane…..lp gas is far cheaper than non refillable butane cans….that being said dont use the green lp cans unless you have the refill connectors an just get a 20lb tank with the adapter hose! and butane will not work at 32 degrees but lp gas will….smarty pants XD
I'll just buy one with the preheat shield that has proper safety testing done lol, the Costco GasOne is dirt cheap
Do you know the hose used to connect to a big setup I'm trying to boil oil outside and always running out of butane
Excellent informative video–Thanks
That's some guts…I wish I had the confidence to take a dremel tool to a butane stove and then use it.
Nice hack! I like it! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I keep my bottle in bed with me at night. I use the stove for coffee water in the morning.
Really gr9 vid. Yeah I have too many of these floating around AND I want to use them for my campervan. So yeah, I'll do this mod. You know I'm going to have to review this vid again. Clever mod BTW.
Thanks Buddy, I have an older one of these stoves and have been wondering how to keep the gas bottle from getting so cold.
Needs some Celsius love
Learned something every day!
Thank you 👍😎
Great video, just wondering 🤔 what temperature is dangerous for these butane bottles? Rick
I usually warm the gas can in some heated water from the kettle when the flame starts to diminish. Definately going to have a go at modding my stove. I use it daily as it's in my work van, saves me hundreds of pounds yearly on the cost of coffee, especially at the rate I drink it. Great video and explanation was insightful.
Hey thanks heaps, I’ve always had trouble with them freezing over during the mornings at camp, they all shut off. most annoying I will try this right now!
I’ll tell you how to make a butane stove better. Throw it away
Good job sir. I myself spend an inordinate a a amount of time fixing things that i should replace just to keep them out of the landfill but hey it makes me happy.
Simple ideas are always the best. What a great idea.
copper wire may work
