Swap. 🙂
Well, after 2107 Lada you may want to buy UAZ "bukhanka" (loaf). This dinosaur is still produced. But be prepared to find wooden details in the floor.
It's just good enough to be soviet.
As for $9000 ? In the 1990s, Russian sailors docked in British ports, liked to buy up old Ladas', strap them to the deck of the ship, and take them back to Russia. Madness.
It's something very wrong with this particular car if it has been warped on the lift. I've been driving 4 of them without this type of problem. None of them were a new car.
My dad owned a Lada and now I’m thinking about buying one myself. It’s easy to repair, easy to modify and sometimes it can be EXTREMELY cheap, some models can cost less than a thousand $ here in Russia. The best car for the first time owners!
This car definitely has its pros and cons..
PROS
1) Probably the cheapest car you would ever have for your money (both buying and owning).
2) With some maintenance its engine can go up to 1 000 000 km (any modern car engine turns into trash after 250 000 – 300 000km at best)
3) Almost no electronic parts. If you push accelerator pedal you PHYSICALLY operate your carburator (pedal has HARDWARE connection to carburetor). All modern cars are "fly-by-wire". Everything is operated by computer and can often be blocked/hacked remotely. I really hate that whenever I push accelerator on my current car it is actually just a tiny electronic resistor of the pedal which makes things happen.
4) Easy to repair. I could fix almost anything in this car no matter where I was. Modern car is actually a computer on wheels with hundreds of electronic sensors feeding data to a car computer. If any of them goes mad, the computer goes mad too and the whole car turns into dead piece of metal. And you have no way to fix it without special equipment at the car-repair shop.
5) Quite tolerant to fuel quality.
CONS
1) Mind you speed. It is not the safest car in the car accident.
2) No ABS. Braking on icy/slippery road may be a challenge. Having good tires fit to season is vital.
I would love a video on Запорожец (Zaporozhets) if you can get it somewhere
I’m from Moscow and fully agree it’s a
One of the cars ever made.
Hello from Hungary, I am kinda envy because we had a Lada when I was child, but not really, it can be real pain in the a.. , here ppl still seriously uses Lada VFTS to rally racing in its category (maybe oldtimer cat.) I guess that price included the shipping which is expensive through the pond.
If Ladas fascinate you, take a tour on the Garage54 channel
Never really wanted a car, but a cheap car that I can turn into a blyatmobile? As soon as I'm able to… That's the car for me.
You can still often see them on the Russian streets
Also, Ladas are deathtraps that brake down more often that gusts of wind on Mt. Everest. I've practically lived in one my entire childhood.
def put a 5 speed in it, it needs it on these american roads
Miner-als lol
If you do decide to sell it you have to honour the traditional Soviet sales technique which is sell it to someone, take their money then don't deliver it for somewhere between five and ten years. Tell them they are on the waiting list, comrade.
Really.
In Soviet Russia they used to call Lada 2107 "a little Mercedes" due to the resemblance of a big chrome grill.
This car cost like 400-500$ here in Russia. For many teenagers, Lada was the first car. It's easy to fix and spare parts cost nothing. Many car mechanics began after they learned to sort through this car. It's also the cheapest winter drifting machine, many people take one for one winter to have fun.
9k dollars!?!?!?!?! In Russia 2107 in that condition is worth about 1k dollars, but you can get one for 500$ if you spend some time looking. And yeah those were definitely cars. My dad used to own one – weird, clunky, uncomfortable, broke all the time, but a car.
true is that in Russia this car cost like 300$ and mostly (if u r not person from USSR) people buy it 4 drunk driving in countryside
I keep rewinding 1:52 – 1:55 for some reason
"Duct not hooked up" was a regular problem in my 2107 and seem to be a common issue, because its length (standard) was almost inadequately short. Also, hooking it up requires dismantling about half a car and then putting it back together.
I'm from Russia and for the first time I see not rusty and such a good zhiguli (it's the name of the car in Russia) inside.
Мне аж захотелось такой жигуль. Видели бы они состояние этих семёрок в регионах))
You could get a VW Polo from the 80s. That would be "fun" haha
If you could get fiat 126p bis model that would be something
Sell it to WhistlinDiesel.
The right side of the chrome strip above the grille is a bit higher than the left, so it looks like its sneering at you. You don't need that sort of disrespectful behaviour. Sell it.
stuff a big block chevy in it. then it will be fun.
