We had to cut the trip short…water conditions were too brutal to cover the whole distance. The Ouachita Mountains are home to incredible rivers and streams. The region is undeveloped leaving rivers like this one in their ancient form. It is an amazing place to visit during summer (when there’s flow!). Towering mountains and clear water create an engaging place to explore. We spent 3 days paddling and camping! But somehow we only covered 8 miles in 3 days, savage.

“Looks a little spicy” 😂 😂 😂
Love your videos. Such great visuals. Happy for you to have discovered America’s hidden gem of a state. Some other good water there as well; white river, buffalo and a few others.
Your kayaks took a beating on this one. Those deep holes for swimming was awesome!! Really cool video Gatewood and I loved the scenery of the mountains. Way to have fun out there 👍🏻👍🏻
So epic! Looked very difficult. I loved his clear the water was. Great video as always!
Very nice! ❤️
This must be one of the best videos about kayak and camping I've come across! I can learn much from this, thanks for posting!
Oh, dear. You really had it rough. You got wet and hot, bugs bit you, and your feet hurt. I bet you're glad to be back in air conditioning.
What river is this?
Rock slipping. 😁😂
Tough ride but worth it
Love to do something like that. I have to travel extremely far to find anything like this.
Worth the wait and awesome adventure of “Rock Slipping” 😉 and now I can’t wait to make it up to Arkansas for myself yet again with friends making gnarly memories.
What was the cfs while you were there? Is there a USGS gauge? Recommended level next time?
Wow what a beautiful river! Looked like a hard go but also fun!
So is there a gage somewhere on that river that might give paddlers some notion of when it would actually be navigable?
Was that a Remote Designs duffle bag I saw in the vide??👀
as a fellow Arkansan (though i live in NW Arkansas, we have not got much rainfall this summer and most of the creeks, rivers and lakes are very low. that is a beautiful stretch of river and hope you make it back when there is some more water! great vid as always
I was really looking forward to your next upload, and was not disappointed! What amazing cinematography and storytelling skills you have. Sorry you had to cut the trip short, but it looks like you got to enjoy the paddling/walking you did do! Thanks for sharing!
Another awesome video! That stretch looks absolutely beautiful. Thanks again for all your hard work in putting these adventure videos together with artistry so we can go on the ride with you guys!
Awesome video man. Glad to see you in a Cresent Kayak. Such an underrated company!
Man! Nope! Not me! This trip looked BRUTAL! Give you all huge points for getting to the half way
Point. Beautiful country—and as always, you capture it so well. WE NEED MORE RAIN MORE OFTEN
Another amazing video! We did 10 on the Ouachita River and then 10 on the lake. The River was EXACTLY like this. Brutal dragging for a lot of it. Builds a little bit of character. When are the waterproof duffles coming out?
Another banger! Man that looked like an absolute blast , just sucks it was so low. All that portaging will definitely suck the life out of you lol
I love these videos. Is that a new Remote Designs bag I see 😳 when will the duffel bag be available to purchase?
Awesome!
I was just thinking that I haven't been kayak camping in a while and then I see this pop up! Now I got to make it happen thanks for sharing!
Ok, your coffee/espresso systems are luxury. You need more water cuz that’s way too bony to be fun.
Another great video. Loved every second of it. Thank you.
At 5:30 . . . . The inertial ass slide
Enjoyed the video Gatewood. You guys always know how to have fun even in the worst of conditions. When did you pick up the Crescent kayak?
Glad you discovered Arkansas, the Natural State! Come back sometime!
Man I just LOVE yours video, edition, the way u bring the storyline… and makes everyone want to go out on the water with kayak… well done!!!
Great video as always, hopefully you get another chance, I bet the next ten miles is just as epic!
What song is playing around the 5-6 minute mark? I’ve heard it somewhere else and it’s super catchy sounding😂
Been wanting to do a float of this section for a very long time….
we called these "walking rivers". you do more walking and dragging than paddling. Better than watching re-runs of "Friends" on in the lazyboy. Still looks like fun.
What river are you on? I didn't see or hear you mention where?!
Man, that is some beautiful country, but the portage looked rough. Good thing that you brought the moka pot. Without all that extra caffeine, you might not have made it.
looks like it wasnt very buggy, not seeing you guys all covered up and no one covered in bites haha
Have you ever paddled the Buffalo River in AR it's on my list? I live in the SMTX area if you are ever up for a paddle. Love the vids, they have helped me plan some of my trips!!!
i know a total of zero information about arkansas
i live in the PNW so im always used to water
RIP Chuck
Great video! There is a 26 mile loop hiking trail there called Eagle Rock trail. I’ve hiked it 3 times in the last 10 years. Incredible brutal trail has nine river/stream crossings and travels over nine mountains. Some of the best memories made in that part of the country!
Brother what a good trip with your buddies. I know the kayaking part was a little tough but you all hung in there and made the trip happen. You had some nice camping area. I know everyone's feet enjoyed being relaxed at the at the campsite. With all the portishing that you had to do I know my feet would have taken a beating from that cuz I still have pains in my feet time to time from when both of my feet was broken in the truck 🚛 accident. I just did a 40 mile kayak camping trip with my family and family friends over the Labor Day Holiday. What was more exciting is that my lil brother transferred back home with his job & he went kayak camping with us on this trip & it was his first time kayaking and kayak camping. He really really enjoyed it and he now wants to buy a kayak so he can join us on kayak camping Adventures. I'm really close with my lil brother and I haven't seen him in 2 years since the pandemic has started. He sad that he left Texas but he's also happy that he moved back home close to family and has a new activity that he loves. I will share your Channel with my lil brother cuz I know he will love your Channel since he likes kayaking now. I am so glad that he likes kayaking cuz I want to take him on so many kayak trips. Good video brother thank you for sharing.
Уфф трохи шкода каяк, так по каменях терлись, аж серце поболювало ))) Крута пригода, дякую за відео )))
Finally, been checking your channel on the reg for some new junts
Awesome video. Great shots. Low flows make for some challenging trips. Same with too high! Gotta get that sweet spot. Got me stoked for my upcoming river float! Thanks for sharing!
Your video quality and narrating is always top notch 💯🤙
Awesome work, as always!
