I have a 2012 Mazda 3 with the skyactive engine and 6 speed manual transmission. I bought it brand new and, 81,000 miles later, I'm still in love with this car.

Got myself a 22' Mazda 3 Sedan as my first car. Fun fact: In my country (Mauritius) the only engine available is a 1.5L NA making like 118 hp😅
In Scotty Kilmer tone, "Realize the difference between the Skyactiv and Skyactiv-X engines."
The first engines were Skyactiv and the spark plugs ignited at every combustion. Later models came with optional Skyactiv-X engines with spark plugs in every chamber, but doesn't ignite at crusing speed/low rpm. Spark plugs were still involved during start-ups and high rpms.

I have a 2014 Mazda 6 with the same powertrain. It is very peppy, just have to put your foot into it. I was shocked at all of those that complained about the cars power until Mazda offered a Turbo version to grease the wheels of the whiny. Sad, the masses are so ignorant.
My 2015 Mazda6 has 298k miles. Runs great!! Mobil 1 oil and Skyactiv/Mazda engineering 👍

My wife just had to retire her 09 mazda 3 hatch because of a deer. Car had 223k+ miles and drove beautifully. Gonna wind up getting a cx30 to replace it.
I have a 2013 CX5. Best car I've ever owned, >100K, gets 33MPG.
There's just no reason why in 2022-3 big 2.3L NA motors don't make 200 HP. Car are so underpowered and overpriced, sorry.
I'm on my 2nd Mazda. First one I had for 12yrs. Never a problem.
Have one 150 also drives like new other than a noisy front end.
The new Mazdas have a automatic clutch for the AWD so AWD is only "switched on" when needed by the computers decision.
Im happy I did the right choice and bought a 2022 Mazda 3 2.5

Why do you continue to badmouth turbos? On my 2004 Saab 9-5 the turbo didn't die until ~ 145,000 miles
I have owed 26 Mazdas since 1979… Fantastic cars. I had 18 of them with over 300k miles with minimal maintenance and fun to drive. I had 5 of them with over 400k miles.
They stole that technology from the truck industry. This is the same as a diesel precombustion chamber (Hypercycle combustion combustion process).
Dear Scotty, after 4 years of watching your videos, I can say that you are on the side of simplicity (mostly Toyota design approach), however I beleive that Toyota ride quality and comfort is lower than needed for long roads, could I have your advise for RAV4 alternatives specially from the comfort point of view?
2016 was when the turbo came out not 2019. I have a 2021 turbo CX-5 and am not happy because of the oil consumption that's tied to poor quality valve seals. A TSB was issued by mazda. It takes over a week to fix. Not good
It's just a NA direct injection I4 like any other lol.

Great video as usual Scotty. Glad to see Mazda get some props. I'm a retired GM technician of 35 years. I test drove a Mazda CX5 last year and was so impressed with the product I bought it and a Mazda 3. North American products can't keep pace with Japanese reliability and technology in my opinion.

I was never a fan of a car company until I discovered Mazda. Now, as long as they have the vehicle that fits our needs, I will never own anything else.
