Remote solo camping trip & national park tour through Outback Queensland’s stunning Lawn Hill (Boodjamulla) National Park. – Outback hikes, kayaking with crocs & flat tyres in the middle of nowhere!
Hey everyone, welcome to another travel vlog from my Queensland road trip series. This video was filmed a while back whilst I was up north exploring Outback Queensland & have finally just gotten around to putting it together. It is a longer one but it was certainly a pretty special park to me so thought it was interesting to share to see the difference in how I filmed and what I was getting up to back out in the outback – hope you enjoy!
For more recent adventures you can jump over to my Victoria or South Australia playlists. As usual feel free to leave any questions or comments and you can check out my current travel updates for new adventure inspo at

Love all your videos Laura. I've done the majority of Outback QLD at various time. Lawn Hill is a stunning location. A beautiful oasis is the desert.
A well presented doco on Lawn Hill! Interesting to compare it to when I stayed there solo in 1999 – $2 a nite, didn't have to book, no restrictions on photography, no decent maps to follow. I had my own sit-in kayak and a little '86 Suzuki Swift and was the laughing stock of the camp with everyone saying my car was 'not suitable' and I was croc-bait as I was heading off later to paddle the Gulf's rivers chasing barra. I reckon you should take your car across the Savanna Way for the ultimate adventure – just include a small tyre compressor and a puncture repair kit. I've crossed it about a dozen times in my Swift so it's doable in a 2WD so long as you take it easy. Cheers!
So glad to see your 2wd got . Thanks for showing the road. My car can do that!
I miss that area of QLD so much. Just to take a dip in the Gregory then wander up to the pub! Lawn hill is beautiful.
I enjoyed your tik tok video just wanted to show my support and appreciate your ear . You have a confident array that is quite unique. Keep going beautiful, may our paths cross I would be honored if you taught me how to relax and literally have fun
Remote travel, by yourself in a 2wd and no phone service?? Sounds pretty scary!!! Did you have other forms of communication or help?
Great video with lots of visual interest and travel tips useful for someone who is contemplating car camping. Me. . Really happy to find an Australian version of Nikki Delventhal and Camper (travelling US in Prius). Hope you don’t mind comparison ⛺️
Wow great vids Laura, I enjoy hiking camping videos and stumbled across your vids, incredible stuff and the first person to prove you don't need all the gear! Keep safe out there and keep creating these awesome videos so I can keep dreaming!
That must've been a quick trip from SA to QLD. Lol or was this from last year. That's a beautiful hidden oasis. Your videos are getting better. 🙂
Awesome place, was there a few yrs ago & absolutely loved it too. I think we did the same walks & hired kyaks too. Well worth the big drive as you mentioned! Lovely memories brought back to life, thankyou!
Took a very low clearance Liberty there at Christmas time. The sweat pouring down kept me awake. Swam the middle gorge right above endless crocs. Then canoed the upper as well. Walked to the bottom and found it just covered with freshies. As the park was nearly empty a resident wallaby eventually got way over friendly and demanded more and more food. Then took the car past the fossil sites all along small dirt roads to Camoville. Driving required utmost all skills so not recommended for a low clearance car.
absolutely fantastic !! 😎🏞️🌅
Great Vid. I started following a few months ago after I got hooked on your Cape Trip which was very informative and gave info that others just brush over like all of he camping areas/towns at the tip of the cape. I didn't realise that there were so many options. I can't believe you don't have a lot more followers as you really do give a lot of information that others (mainly 4×4 guys or Insta Girls) don't give. Others just show us the pretty sunsets and Insta shots whereas you explain what a place has to offer. Great work and I hope you get a stack more subscribers and a few sponsorships to help you along the way. Keep up the great work. Cheers from Bundaberg 🙂
Love the video, nice work!
Solid effort. :))
I can't believe how far you've traveled in your little 2wd car in a 4wd you will be even more amazing
Remember most 4wd has a air supply on them ,maybe ask where you was camping, all buy yourself a small air compressor a good brand.and steel rim are better than alloy rim ,good video, happy travels.
How can I go there with you, hmm interesting😃😃
