I really don’t understand what’s with all the negative comments about the Open Gangway trains. Like seriously, don’t you all like the idea of improved safety and rider convenience? Don’t you all like increased capacity and the ability to safely move between train cars when the train is moving, thus getting you to your exit quicker? Other cities have this so why can’t NYC?

ten reyes

MTA subway only now showing what the rest of the worlds subways already have been using.

Emerald

Chilll NYC about to be LA very soon. Affording anything, will force many to move out of state. Improvement unfortunately comes with a price.

J V

How about goddamn wifi

Mirko Obradovic

Wow, that's nice. So ARE you going to do something when you see scumbags doing what scumbags do? Now you will have proof but ARE you going to do something or these carts will look like old ones in couple of months?

melasia martin

They need to put up barriers between tracks n people waiting for train

Trolly Polly

New Yorkers: get the homeless out of here
MTA: ehh, how about new trains ?

Trolly Polly

Now the homeless can harass New Yorkers with no trouble

Petr Butkarev

Those trains are not are from the future! Look at the seats! Go to Europe and Russia and see what trains are there!

Plannerjoy

How is having less seats an improvement? Most people commute for close to an hour

smokeahontas xo

Waste of taxpayers money for 10% more interior space. WE NEED PROTECTIVE DOORS ON THE PLATFORMS.

Lawrence Ospina

Good to see NYC is getting new trains 50 years after the fact. Not sure that it will matter since China will be taking over management of this backward run country effective 2030. Just read Albert Brook's book 2030. The American way has failed its veterans, senior citizens and just about everyone. So effective 2030 there will be new management here. Good luck.

Zerg Cerebrates

It's an improvement but hardly a subway of the future if you've seen metro trains from other countries. New York really needs to renovate all their stations.

Manuel Pena

What about bad smells

George Raven

New beds for homeless

SerpentsFang

Now if they can just renovate the infrastructure

DanxyFN

All this is not stoping criminals doing what they gonna do and now they got open door more access for these shooter walk thru NOT GOOD

boe jiden

The open gangways are not a good idea at all. Space doesn't matter when a new train arrives every three minutes

boe jiden

"a gleaming silver railcar that glides along the rails that seemed unimaginable just 20 years ago"

HAPPY9862

Future car, you mean back to the future, they have this in china , hong kong, Europe like 30 – 40 years ago

Jin Nij

Now the whole subway TRAIN will smell like homeless . Thank u MTA. 😭🤣

Alphachewei

Great. Now I have no where to run when a guy took a dump in the cart.

Buffalo Mind

I’m appreciative of everything, but I must say they might have well said congratulations s everyone we’ve just moved to 1960 in terms of technology. Cheer us on including yourselves. Yaaaaay, we’ve improved as a society. 🤣But in reality 😔

Buffalo Mind

I don’t get it. What did they improve? They’ve taken away doors a minus in a way for safety issues. And added cameras, or added more maybe? Uh’ is the speed that the train travels 2-3x faster, and how about the scheduled time is it actually on time? China, Japan, and other Asian countries have had unbelievably way better trains than us for easily 10 years. They’ve been in the present time at that period of time, and continue to improve with the years. The “improvements” if you can call them that (that is what they are choosing to call them) I see them as takeaways instead of improvements (how can you not see that as they are so few in all) it should be insulting to everyone. These we’ll say “improvements” are something that should’ve been implemented decades before 1975.

Mike Jones

I guess no one’s been to Europe

kaisofine

No thanks….they spend money on the wrong things…And they are asking for a fare hike. Focus on your homeless problem, train and bus schedules, or preventing crime. New shiny objects will not make my commute better.

PikaSnipe

Those screens will never last

John Simon Ritchie

Now you won't be able to change cars to avoid "that" smell. It will waft through the entire length of the train and permeate your clothing. The Money Taking Agency has screwed you suckers yet again. 😂
