The best channel to learn. I can’t believe we get this kind of content for free! So thankful for Monroe’s team, very informative and well presented video

I wouldn't worry too much about the retrofits, since they wouldn't happen till required and at that point there's no reason they can't attempt to make a different SKU to fit the old models.

Personally though I suspect the main thing is the increased bandwidth for higher resolution cameras. I think the extra ports are likely to accommodate different vehicle types such as the Semi.

D D D

Likely that this is specifically designed for the cybertruck. If you think about why they need more cameras it could be due to how high the truck sits to see blind spots to prevent hitting small people.

Respect to the "sexy bottons" people! Almost everybody is rightly complaining about the severe over-reduction of buttons. It would never have ocurred to me to come up with a solution for that problem, but in the instant i saw the ad, it makes perfect sense, and doesn't look too technically complcated to solve.
A great idea. I hope they're succesful.

Nice Criminal

can we turn this into a desktop PC? lol

Carsten UM

Lets compare it to to other oems computer. we going to have a laugh.

Just to say thank you, DAVE ,
you too Cory

Is there any indication that parking sensors or a rear HQ radar may return?

Can you explain why it is a good thing to publicise leaked technology before Tesla officially announced it in this way? I can only think of negative consequences from this, like a head start for global competitors to reverse engineer and adjust to this tech, and your mission to educate your viewers doesn't justify that gift to them in my opinion.

David Elliott

I’d expect a FSD board to need considerable power but why does it need so much energy at idle? Why can’t it sleep when not needed?

David Elliott

That programmable button advert has to be the first YT ad worth seeing.

Hi Dave, quick comment on the memory modules – Those are GDDR6 DRAM modules, similar to what are found on graphics cards. They are significantly faster than traditional DDR RAM that you would put in your computer, and they are in what's called "clamshell mode" where there's a DRAM module on the top and bottom of the board. This is important for GDDR6, because it allows you to double the capacity for of a GDDR6 controller (which would be important for running larger inferencing models.) The part number on screen is for a 14Gb/s module, which is not the fastest model that Micron makes, but it's significantly cheaper and more reliable from a signaling and board layout standpoint. On each chip, there are 4 interfaces, each capable of 56 Gigabytes/second.

I work on GDDR memory (not at Micron or Tesla) so when I saw a familiar part number, I figured I'd share what I can! Thanks for the presentation!

sad panda. my 10k FSD will be obsolete before it is even out of beta 🙁

Adam Wood

Almost teared up at the end. You guys are so lucky to be doing something you guys love together with people you like.

GreenTheOnly strikes again. I want to meet him one day.

wow. too bad hardware 3 can’t be upgraded to 4—> wires would be wrong length and space issues. I told my son to wait for HW 4 before he buys a Model Y===> His patiences will be rewarded. Thanks Cory and Dave

Glenn Shimamoto

The Ryzen is a fantastic processor, especially the versions with integrated graphics. Is there a need for a separate Radeon GPU?

Daniel Gross

Excellent presentation, Dave. Great insights. And top-notch leadership skills on display Cory, showing deep appreciation to Dave and the Munro team. Awesomeness!

This is awesome..I always wonder how powerful the chip is. How it is compare to normal desktop cpu. What's the response time and it calculated base on input from sensor. Can it be implemented in drone. Some drone that has objects avoidance, you can see it's response rate base on its cpu rather than it's software. Can a cpu from phone like the snapdragon be modified to used in drone or Tesla. Snapdragon response is very fast.

Daniel Hull

Great Video, was hoping to hear some of my Buzz words: ASIL level(s), Software Bill of Materials (SBOM), Neutrino or Muon Kernel, QNX, Blackberry, Samsung Fab, Hypervisor, Security, Privacy. TIA.

Richard Nedbalek

The screen helped us see and focus on the discussed components.
The key advantages and nonretrofitability were well covered.
Nicely done, guys!

cory doing some shaping work hot damn your effort is impressive and he's blasting with confidence and competence

Radar may only be Tesla Semi – they have longer stopping distances and need to accurately measure low bridges.

Ian Valentine

I think the 'white space' on the board is due to the fact that as you integrate more components onto the custom chips the total component count goes down.
But the physical size of the board stays the same…..

Ace Man

I was so in tune with the the two that I almost forget to thumbs up the this breakdown video. Thanks!!

Great job explaining the new hardware Dave!!!!

LOL! I love seeing Sandy trying to sell buttons.
