THE SNOWDONIA SLATE TRAIL | Wild Camping Snowdonia | Wild Camp UK
I have just finished wild camping in Snowdonia along The Snowdonia Slate Trail, and it has been quite the adventure! So many unexpected events kept us on our toes!
The Snowdonia Slate Trail is 80 miles long, starting in Bangor and ending in Bethesda, taking in the main areas and Heritage sites associated with the Welsh Slate industry.
But… are you allowed to wild camp in Snowdonia? And, where can you wild camp in Snowdonia? These are all questions I was asking before my trip. The answer is technically no, but with plenty of wild moor sections and forests I had no problem on this trail. However, always remember to leave no trace, pitch late and leave early… and where possible, get the land owner’s permission. Alternatively, there are plenty of campsites and accommodation available.
I rate this long distance hiking trail as one of my favourite wild camping adventures! Walking the Snowdonia Slate Trail was beautiful, and some of the stunning wild camping spots along the way really made it something special!
We used the Hiiker app for its GPS map version of this route and would highly recommend it. It’s packed full of handy features.

Beautiful landscape. I left you a like. Greetings from Switzerland, Benjamin
Wow you hit some bad weather early on, was looking towards the mountains thinking about you lot up there in the rain but good to see it didn't dampen you're spirits too much. Lots of stunning shots and great welsh music choices! Shame the slate museum was shut it's really interesting in there and free!! Felt so sorry for Danni feeling ill in such a lovely part of the trail and poor Devan falling in the stream, must have been freezing!! Look forward to the next part. All the best..
Day
Smashing it guys 👍 fantastic views all around, looking forward to part 2
Awh brilliant glad the weather improved somewhat for yous…I thought that section across the moors would be a bstard in the wet. Excited for your next part 🙂
Absolutely loved this so much can’t wait for the next one. Loved how real u kept it, it’s so easy on social media to edit all the thing out that go wrong but I loved that u didn’t do that. Hope Danni is feeling better bless her!
This looks such a beautiful trail I need to go and explore this place thanku so much for sharing ❤ well done all of u xxx
Couple of self absorbed morons
What a beautiful cinematography, you filmed this masterfully! Atmosphere is so unique and charming!
Another great video, thank you. Wales looks beautiful, and you caught some great shots of the countryside. I'm glad you both faced your fears of sheep and cows, coz they are more frightened of you than you are of them😀 and respect to Danni for pressing on with the adventure! I do hope she recovered fully from that illness. I'm really looking forward to part 2, – thanks again 😀
I just stumbled upon your channel, living locally the places on the video are on my doorstep, I even walked up to and camped the night in Rhosydd Slate Quarry last Wednesday! I look forward to part 2!
I just realised that I smile all the way through your videos 😁 hope Danni is feeling better . Another great video thanks 👍🍻🙏
Poor Dev that was some pack he was carrying no wonder he fell in the stream. Felt for Danny too what a bloody shame nothing worse than feeling unwell when everyone else is enjoying themselves.Better than the telly your videos keep it up.👏👏👏
Great video .. 😀🥾💯
Little tip, even if your drone and/or other electricals are in protective cases, always add a packet of silica gel that you get with nearly all electronics etc.. I never throw them out .. I always keep some in my camera bags etc… It reduces the condensation that could cause a temporary malfunction 😎👍
Great video guys thank you take care with copy rite with the music
Well done all that is a hard place when the weathers not with you. Trying to find the 'ruff as arseholes' but it doesn't seem to be in any hiking books. Ha ha!
It looks absolutely beautiful 😍
Great scenery and determination from you three 👍
Have you had that tent in really bad wind & rain? How is it dealing with multi-day abuse? I'm on the look out for a tent for motorbike camping. 🙂 Great vid girls.
Brilliant video again! 🥰
choo… choo…
Fab video as always well done to you all xx
I have a Nessie cushion who used to adorn my drum kit. I 🏴 🏴 got from my lovely grandsons Ewan, Gordon and grand daughter Siobhan.
Well done Danni 👏 brave girl. Wales is lovely isn't it! I am in the Eurohike Backpacker II up in the Bowland Forest moors. Just 3 miles from home. I make meals up that are and freeze – take with. As a diabetic I have a set menu, so have to be careful what I eat. But nothing's stopping me from weekend on the tops.
Fantastic ! Love the videos, great walks, super photography (like real pros) and so much fun to watch. Thank you !
That looked like a rough first full day weather wise, nothing worse than being soaked to the bone and walking miles! Lovely looking trail though and well done to Danni for trooping on! Looking forward to part 2 🙂.
Really enjoyed this one brilliant xx
Great video as usual, poor Danni, what a trooper, bless her. Well done all of you xxx
With you on the cows and the bad cow experience. Not the best of weather at the start or any gentle walks, straight into the steep climbs and I love the Moors too but not in the rain :o(. Nice to see the rain stopped the next day with a very nice waterfall too and what a difference the Moors look in the sun. Oh we do not want drama on the trail but love the free snakes, love a bit of foraging, to make my wild berry jam. I think you deserved a hotel after all the rain and shame about Devan falling into the stream, I always tell anyone I hike with, I would never film anything that would make them look foolish or if I caught them falling over etc, so a well deserved pub stop to refuel and dry off. Shame about the returning pizza but Beddgelert was such a nice place to visit, shame you could not all enjoy it more. Cheers Alan
Those pathless Welsh paths are a killer!! Well done everyone. Trail looks stunning 😊
😁 hiya kerry danni and devan.. Firstly poor danni that couldn't have been nice been so ill during a trail and hope she recovered soon during part 2 🤗 I blame the cheese and onion crisps 🤣😁 Great video and brought back memory's for me of my last visit to Beddgelert 👍 definatley on par with bwetsy y coed 😁 I'm guessing part 2 is even more spectacular and arduous but happy to see the weather improved.. Can't wait for part two 👍😁👍 plus, again Well done All, that was a toughy for everyone. #officiallysmashedit 🏴🥾🥾🥾😁👍
Oh hell , u r too funny, hate ur having all the fun ,suck being a man I must have money, dam u girls coal for Christmas
Hi Kerry, you have done it again, great mix of scenery and fun, I've been waiting for this one .I agree with you about having light and easy food when walking. I've yet to find a pair of water proof boots as I've mentioned before in another video I buy cheap boots and put bread bags over my socks a quick tip it's best to remove the bread first!!
Absolute pleasure getting to hit another trail with you two, somehow we all survived, can't wait for the next one
Yet again a great vid highlighting the beauty of the country and good on the three of you smashing it, even when poorly, you cracked on like a trooper Danni… looking forwards to episode two 🙂
💪💪
This was my toughest trail by far 🙈🙈🙈
