Hurts to see Ben getting old so incredibly fast

FCP Euro

Certainly a reason why we feel "OEM+" can feel like such the right sweet spot. Gives you the satisfaction of making something your own, wrenching with a purpose outside of maintenance, yet simultaneously enjoying parts the factory engineered for your platform that happen to be a slight upgrade from the base/simpler trims within a model. Also this had tech 9 vibes, nice work.

One thing I think should be discussed are the cars with no mass following, nor any attention being thrown their way. For instance, I drive a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo LT. They're very literally GM's throwaway car (the quintessential Kia Rio), with no redeeming qualities nor any special features, EXCEPT for the fact it has an Ecotec engine which gives it better gas mileage.
It was born to be a boring commuter, to be thrown away at the end of its life. I wholeheartedly believe cars in such fashions, with eager tuners and teens with no other options for cars (like myself), should give em the ol' tuners treatment. They deserve better lives than what they were made to be.

Honestly the only reason that i would leave a car stock, would be if it were a 100% stock old car. And i honestly would still prefer to do suspension modifications and wheels. I definitely have a goal in mind for every car i own. Enjoyable (to me) daily driver, track ripper, backroad ripper, drift car, drag car it doesnt matter. I just enjoy cars, modifying cars, and modded cars in general.

Proactive Fire Safety

Very well said. Great video. Great perspective and truth.

Austin Smith

It's awesome building a car to OEM+, still pretty comfy and way more fun to drive

HFY Channel

Agree!!! 💯

FrickenHamster

I would say that a vast majority of modded cars have similar mods because the owners know about their cars, and what they lack stock. Its was pretty apparent to me after owning a 350z that there was a lot the company cheaped out on when making the car. It was a car designed during an era of cost saving, so even if the engineers wanted to design a good car, they had to compromise with financial realities. Everyone changes out the rear diff bushing because it was built for failure without a OEM supported fix other than getting a new subframe. Everyone changes out the struts because the stock suspension makes you bounce over bumps. The stock alignment is done using eccentric bolts, which loosen and shift over time. All of these are OEM issues that stock owners who daily their 350z deal with everyday. Its an objectively worse car stock.

Jamie Martin

It’s like an addiction.

Rhody Cars

Hit 30 and really changed how I thought about cars and the community.

Dom Teewhy

As an s209 owner, I felt this video hard. I love the modification and fabrication industries though. I think they are definitely contributing to car and enthusiast market as a whole .

Even if it is for dollars, we get to see some special stuff and people can have their own pieces of art.

Mine will stay stock except for some wheels and tires and that’s a risk vs reward thing. Great content🔥🔥🍻

Storethis

Honestly, I think it depends on the mods. The only mod I kinda regret on my Cobalt SS is the poly engine mount. I did the poly trans mounts bc the stock ones were cracked, and I really liked how it felt afterwards, but with the motor mount it feels a little too stiff.

OEM+ mods are always nice tho. Intercooler systems, non straight piped exhausts, a basic sway bar, some nice tires, and a PCM flash never hurt nobody.

jstin_ 361

good video.

Tom Logan

The videos are getting worst. You guys should go back to your roots

emaxx racer

I’m big into rc trucks and definitely can relate, one of mine is modded to the moon and the only stock parts are the rear bulkheads and the transmission… Looking at a stock 3903 Emaxx, where I started with, it takes me back and makes me appreciate the simplicity and lack of harshness of it and how it handled.

Forte creed

Very solid video as always, very good points made as well, I’d say if you wanna do crazy mods on your car do em but just get a daily that’s stock so you won’t have to worry about it

Team Emperor Evo

My goal when I bought my car was to buy something that didn’t NEED mods. That’s how I know I’m old

lrnasigo1

Loved the video! I struggle everyday not to modify my F80 M3. It remains exactly as it came off the production line. No tint, same original tires, only maintenance cost. On the other hand I drive my slammed, modified Audi Allroad wagon more often. It’s the first key I grab. Without thinking.

Lord Diaz

Anybody else would love a video of Ben buying and finding a stock EVO?

Kostas Nls

Don't overmod your cars people. Get a stock car and enjoy it, drive it nuts and see what it's actually missing to mod (as the video said as I'm typing the comment lmao)

negruta stas

Great video as always! I guess, another point to the topic is that some people might do mods just to keep it relevant somewhat fresh. My car was largely stock for over 3 years before I started making some changes to make it more engaging.
And you mentioned a good point. Having a perspective is very important if you only have one car you try to use for any situation than you are more prone to modify it. Compared to having 2 cars for different needs.

Brayden Hulsey

For those of you who mod your car, just do it for yourself. Don't do it because its something that everyone else does, do it because its something you want. To this date I have yet to do a single mod that doesn't have its draw backs but I knew that going into it so it doesn't really bother me all that much. and pro tip, aside from maybe an intake, coilovers, wheels, and maybe some cosmetic work, don't change anything mechanically on your daily, that will really make life worse. LOL

Ionuț Corduneanu

I like oem + mod but not to much

Hector Nimrod

Think you need to get another stock-ish EVO IX.
I think the best EVO ownership its get 2 Evos, one stock-ish, and another for the track

Cameron Conwell

3:44 bro I wanna mod a 350z so bad

Cameron Conwell

Bro don’t say the exhaust sound is better on stock before I get angry 😡

Cameron Conwell

“What if you don’t mod” Then how racecar?? Hmmm how do you answer that

Jet Tanyag

Love this! I modify my car to make it more fun. But yeah, I'm one of those guys who put mud flaps on their Subaru and I definitely won't be the last 😀

Chris Huyler

I get the message, but also, if you're going to drive a vehicle "stock" there is a better experience than a Mitsubishi LOL.

Suzuki Swift Sport

i dont think the best drivers in the world right now spent a majority of their time contemplating the next mod, maybe they just enjoyed the car and tuned it to their needs when needed.

adam

Good video

OJones

These speaks so much! I have a very modified Ranger, but a nearly stock daily driver in a F150. Because no mod goes to the F150 that doesn't directly improve what i bought it for, being a daily & towing a trailer.

Edwardthecar

If you get another evo you'll do the same thing as broadbent and his 2 soon to be 3 mx5s

Michael VanDyke

This is why you should keep your daily driver mostly stock. My daily only has appearance mods. My summer sports car and my race cars are for deep modification.

UnitedKingdomRC

What's a brid bucket seat? Think you mean bride me'duck

Bored Panduh

I'm assuming this is directed at the majority of non enthusiasts since modifications are literally why we buy cars. My mother isnt about to put lowering springs on her car. My uncle isn't putting a lift kit on his truck. Me. On the other hand. I'll make
My car my own. Regardless of the drawbacks lol. Does it enrich my ownership of that vehicle? YES!!! Yes it Fucking does.

Bobby Custer

I thoroughly agree with everything you said. In my experience modifying or modified cars seem to be a pain. The mods never fit right and the car is less reliable afterward and most likely less comfortable. If I wanted a raw car I’d buy a track variant from the manufacturer. Which I do love raw cars. I owned an Evo 8 and 85% of the time, I wished it was stock. I honestly have a deep appreciation to see stock cars because in some cases it’s less common than to see a modified one.

Mad Scientist

My 2019 STI that I bought new is still stock with 27k on it. Drives great and with the extended Subaru warranty I’m good for along time.

Frankenstein Motorworks

This is something i spend a lot of time trying to say and very few people listen. A race car is great… on the race track. Race car parts are not automatically better than OEM parts and usually have severe compromises. You're way better off keeping that nice daily driver and getting a cheap track toy. It's cheaper and way more enjoyable.
