In here Finland i think most common hearses today are made from Volvo V90 or MB E-class, have seen also some made from Volvo S80 and Chrysler Voyagers..
Strangest hearse i have seen in here, about 2 years ago was Peugeot 505 wagon, it looked just like normal black 505 wagon. 😄

I worked in Palliative care for 2 years- and i totally felt when he said about people his age who have died; as a 40yr old bloke, having blokes my age die from cancer or such really changed my outlook on life

I'm surprised you didn't mention the use of the hefty leaf springs in place of the conventional coil spring setup in the rear. Didn't know how rugged the 472 engine blocks are.

When I was a kid in 1960s California, my family's next door neighbor was a funeral business owner, where him and my dad became best friends; and both families got along great. It was a sad day (from my perspective as a youngster) when they moved away.
Some domestic issues arose afterwards, which led to an estrangement of both families; but it was more of the issues my dad had with the guy; as years later that same person displayed no grudge towards my family.
It turned out decades later that same funeral director handled the arrangements for my deceased dad's funeral arrangements; where now, myself as an adult, I was with Mom with going over the funeral and burial arrangements for dad at the funeral home.
When the expenses were tabulated, something seemed peculiar, but I kept quiet and Mom wrote out a check to the funeral home. Afterwards, Mom and I discussed about the expenses, which seemed extraordinarily low. We concluded that the funeral director didn't make a dime out of the arrangements and services; that his funeral home did the whole package at cost.
There's an urban legend I've heard of that used funeral hearse vehicles were popular in the 1960s among Californian surfers, as the cargo area of the hearse was long enough to securely carry surfboards.
An old saying was "Your last ride will always be in a Cadillac!"
I would own one especially those 50's to early 90's Lincoln and Cadillac's.
1.) Nobody would wanna steal one.
2.) Easier to spot so thieves will be spotted.
3.) Can be fun to drive and take to cars and coffee. (Especially the Cadillac ones.)
4.) You might have some chill spirits enjoying the ride.
5.) Would make a damn good cheap camper.
