Back out wild camping in heavy rain and strong winds! It was a stormy camp with plenty of rain and the wind, but we survived the night! Scotland is throwing everything at us but we are still standing :).

Wild Camping in the Heavy Rain and Strong Winds
Out with Summit Tae Dae – Stephan – from the live stream and we headed off to my favourite spot on Loch Lomond, just down from the Rowchoish bothy on the West Highland Way. I brought the NatureHike Cloud Up 2 with me as these were ideal testing conditions and it put in one hell of a performance in the heavy rain and strong winds. Although the tarp was being battered by the wind all day and night, it too put in a strong performance. A fine camp, but some effort to get to! If thw stones genlt covwrs then it might work. The fiew ? I lukectoo the teepee. Tall to stand. Not too interwstwd ib ling hours. The way hwre is sourh west or to me east. I am stuck in peraonal need. So time for others.

U was not wearing any good gloves or open finger gloves to protect ur hands in the cold and stuff wear are ur gloves to keep ur hands warm haha
Weather looked wild , decent test of the cloud up , looked quite flappy on the inside when windy ! And a wee swing (tarzy) for entertainment 😁 good video 👍🏕

Well we got about 12 inches of snow. LOVE IT! Had to work these days so i didn't get to camp. Again! Oh well maybe next time…Loved this video! The water sounds are so beautiful & love hearing the rain hitting the tent. Call me strange but those things are so relaxing to me. Stay safe & see you next time Monty👋

Thanks for the subtitles mate as I don't speak Scottish….. The tent being inner first would be bit of a problem if erecting in rain. Not my cup of tea but for the price you can't expect a Hilleberg. Great location and another enjoyable video….Thanks.

Another enjoyable video Monty. This question may be difficult to answer. I’m vehemently vegan and will not use down, leather or wool. I’ve had to kit myself out for all UK seasons with little help from You Tube channels because no-one is completely synthetic, frequently promoting animal product, and I’ve done all the research myself (thinking of starting a channel dedicated to this – could be called synthetic Si 😂). My question is are there any kit recommendations you can make that are synthetic that you really like? Anything that stands out in terms of sleep system or clothing? Always on the lookout. Anyway, Naturehike tents always look decent for the price 👍

I have the Cloud Up 2 coming in the mail, it has been proven to be durable. The part that I was interested in was the wind protection at the bottom. It may be too hot in summer, but perhaps the rainfly can be rolled back to let in more air at night.

I am guessing that's the place we were meant to camp at before we ended up going to Lock Kennard. This looks a really good spot you can definitely take me there when we have more time for the walk in. Your new friend is very brave in a hammock in that weather but he did look like he knows what he is doing. Did you go for that mat over the 5 that I bought? Have to say, Stephan’s cooking skills (apart from the steak, I’m a meat dodger) put your beans to shame 😂😂 Try the Gosh! Beetroot Burgers. Easy to cook over an open fire and really yummy 😋.

Great video Monty. I haven't been up there for years. I have stayed at Doune Bothy, and you can tie that in with a couple of boat trips for an interesting overnighter. At 1:45 it does look as though you have your boots on the wrong feet! 🙂 That gave me a wee chuckle!
I picked up a few of those Firepot meals at Cotswolds recently, going for just over £3 each. Hoping to give them a try soon. What's your thoughts on them?
