I go out camping in winter and build a quick laavu shelter from materials I find laying around. Heavy snowfall comes later when I rest in the cover of my shelter by the warm campfire.

Love your content. You never disappoint. One thing I'll never understand though, is why, in the cold snowy weather, no matter whose channel I watch, no one makes a "big" fire. If I were out there I would make a HUGE campfire. But that's me, haha. Looking forward to your next post. 👍🏻

Nice try and fare play but you left camp as soon as the snow turned up. Probably a bit chilly on that side where your head was plus probably tired after building the construction

I would rethink using your axe as a sledge hammer, if it broke, there goes your shelter build, your firewood collection which in turn hinders staying warm and dry. If you can carry a manual drill can you carry a mallet.

Looks like your tool kit would really benefit from a saw. Cutting a couple of half laps at the corner joints would then peg together solidly. It would also take less energy plus having the benefit of being quicker and safer. Of course you may just prefer using an axe.

Excellent. Same way I used to make them many years back. I had almost nothing. Just surplus army blanket and a wool quilt from home. An army canteen with a pot on the outer. Little canned food to eat. Sardines spam. Cornbread. In a paper bag. No plastic then or fancy thermos for me. Wooden matches. No striker, bic lighters weren't invented.
