Such a disturbing and profound experience, from an artistic perspective: the imagery is terrifyingly cryptic, the subtle details of sound and directing…red pyramid with slow, thoughtless movements, the chilling phenomenon of fear building up in a hesitating fashion…remarkable and symbolic, visually and artistically stunning and memorable for years
Masahiro Ito's word means very little in this regard as he is not the writer and is known to contradict himself heavily when it comes to SH lore. The scene can mean a lot of things but is ultimately of the meaning determined by the player.

YOU MAKE THE BEST SILENT HILL CONTENT! EEEEEE >w<
Even if it was sexual assault in a game like silent hill with many dark themes it shouldn't be controversial, horror needs to be uncensored.
Great analysis. I'm a huge Lynch fan so I noticed many little references or apparent influences. Lost Highway is probably the most drawn from in my mind. The whole Mary/Maria fugue is a close match to the Renee/Alice portrayal in the film. James has the meek nature and similar dialogue as Fred in the film as well. Oddly vague and seemingly confused by his own actions. The whole game reminded me of one particular line of dialogue from the film spoken by Fred when asked why he hates video tapes and home cameras. "I remember things the way I want to remember them. Not necessarily the way they happened."
Play Control, Muse
I promise you gonna love that world and its lore. Like SH it's very lynchian too.
I swear he’s breaking their spines cuz they were fighting
I always wondered what PH was trying to say to James through the door. I always thought he was miming something, not threatening him. If the Lynch parallel is correct, maybe it was, "Don't you ——- look at me!"
Just found this channel and I know I’m going to love it already. Just the kind of content I look for.
Hmmm dunno Muse, Masahiro Ito pretty much explained the meaning of the scene and many others on his Twitter, so while it is always cool to come up with your own interpretation, it wouldn't hurt to provide full explanation by one of the guys who worked on the game as well
Excellent catch with the FWWM reference 🤘
So is this a fact video or opinion because wow you missed the mark, Pyramid Head is a manifestation made by the spiritual power of the tower it was made as James wanted to be punished for killing his wife, anything sexual was made up by people and that stuck, that corpse wasn't killed by P H the reason it's glowing read it represent it's just been born i.e manifested why at that stage of the game we don't know.
Pyramid head should have not exist in homecoming, he is unique to James Sunderland only
🖤
Ok sex and violence aren't by necessity "sick and twisted" in thier association.' The BDSM community is more full of well adjusted individuals than 'sickos". Accepting ones Darkness can be liberating in a wholesome, sort of, way, just as much….
Oh god tell me why I saw pyramid head raping and I just felt like I had to click lol but besides love you analyzing vids especially the SH ones I’m sure you know that
Fun fact:
Masahiro stated this scene was the exact reason he couldn't get a girlfriend at the time of working on SH2.
Muse have you ever thought about doing a video on the Happy Birthday caller in SH3
Museeeee 😆 ❤️
I don't understand how PH is trying to teach James what he'll become if he doesn't "solve" Silent Hill. PH kills monsters and women that represent Mary, PH's not saying James might kill Mary (in the future), it's saying James killed Mary (in the past).
Masahiro Ito has stated that Pyramid Head isn’t raping the mannequins. He’s killing them. Which is why one isn’t moving.
Mannequins represent Jame’s sexual frustrations so Pyramid Head is trying to destroy them.
James isn’t ready for the truth, so he tries attacking Pyramid Head.
This is obviously all up to interpretation, but that’s my understanding.
This is awesome. Keep it up.
I was like 10 when this came out and I beat it… I remember how this scene really fucking disturbed me and still does, the noises ugh….
But what does the monster 3 way really mean? Also Idk if pH really is supposed to be James cause why is it killing others. I thinks hes like a towney like the bugs and nurses
I can't explain how hard the hallway moment fucked me up. It's burned into my brain, right next to Michael Myers standing up in the background after Laurie seemingly kills him, and Chucky flipping out after the mom threatens to burn him.
Video is too dark, with some pure white flashes that really hurt my eyes. Fix this or write a warning lol
If Pyramid head is an alter ego of James, why there are at least two of Pyramid head?
Awesome video.
I still haven't giving up for a video about James' otherworld symbolism
A personal theory of mine is that the apartments could be the representation of an actual apartment building where James and Marry lived and met (the room with the corpse and the TV on being James's room and the one where you find the mannequin with Marry's clothes being her room) on the same note the room where you find Angela in the building next door could be where her mother lived at some point in her life
Good video. i must be honesto, I've never watched those móviles, but, it make Sense about PH's actions are (in a manner of speak) the dark-twisted result of what would happen if the character fails Silent Hill's trial.
The 1st time I saw this scene, I couldn't stop laughing @ how horrifying & absurd it was. Excellent analysis as always AJ. <3
As a huge David Lynch fan, I felt a dizzy déjà vu when I played that scene in SH2. I also remember seeing an official PH figure at the time and under the helmet it was James's head… It makes sense. Silent Hill is very mysterious but the creators left countless breadcrumbs for us to find the trail that will lead to the truth. Obviously, some things are left to the player's imagination and conclusions but some things are undeniable. Another great video, thank you!
5:31 yes, the closet scene was based on Blue Velvet, but M. Ito also says "The scene of Pyramid Head abusing 2 mannequins. That doesn't mean rape."; by rape, I guess he means sexual abuse, thus this scene shouldn't be entirely seen as BV, with sexual assault etc.
Great video btw!
Holy crap that wallpaper! Spot-on, and amazed after all this time I can still learn things about Silent Hill
I can't stop watching video after video from this channel ✨
I've watched Fire Walk With Me and Blue Velvet a million times, and never noticed these parallels. Good call.
Thanks!
Your videos are so great! I’m always so happy whenever I watch your silent hill videos
It wasn’t until I started watching your videos that I learned how many misconceptions about lore are taken as fact in the silent hill fandom. Rumininlove has dispelled a lot of misconceptions about gameplay for me as well
Supposedly he's just stuffing them down the sink. Idk why anyone sees rape. I think people just see what they want to see.
Those hallways are burnt into my mind
Hey cool watching can you do analysis on the bogeyman rhyme from Silent Hill Downpour I mean like what’s its real purpose
David Lynch sure does love his psycho sexual mysteries.
fantastic video!!! the apartments are one of the best areas in sh2 so was extra happy to see this video
