Whats your opinion on the new building Environmentalists can build? Is there potential in a meta build to use the civic for early game unity and then reform out of it later once you no longer need it?
You get something like 2 and a bit unity per "natural" blocker on the planet (so starting planet blockers don't give unity), and on top of that the building creates an extra blocker which counts as a natural blocker, so you're getting a bit from that. Your capital planet also starts with this building on it, so you're generating a little bit of extra unity from the get go too.
I've tried to ponder the best build to combo it with – early unity rush builds like Psionic ascension seem good, but I've always found early economy to be a struggle with teachers of the shroud compared to other origins, so would prefer bonuses that help me more there. Considered combining it with technocracy to help early game unity output, since they struggle with that.

I was doing exactly this, but with necrophaging. they're all happy to be converted into necro pops! make sure to have a third species to hold as slaves though.

So with knights montu u should see how broken u can make that habitat by having live stock and servent pops on their that can not migrate off as it will give u more knights and when 1 knight can output 40 tech points i think getting 7-10 early game might be meta
I got my hab late game with nearly 1k production from 15 knights having everything else on their as servents live stock and like 3-4 crime pops could easily have done this early to mid if i noticed sooner
I know from experience this synergies well with the Decadent trait since it doesn't do anything and you get an extra trait point at the cost a trait slot. Also if you have the Utopia dlc, you can do this with Syncretic Evolution origin and get slaves at the beginning. 🙂
I made a build like this today, combining this concept with the overtuned traits – giving them to your slave pops basically ignores the life span penalty while keeping all the benefits. I think that, besides arguably the different kinds of purge, this is the worst fate that can happen to you in stellaris. Genetically optimized for slaving away for a horrible, noxious ruler, with a lifespan indistinguishable from a fly. And nobody cares, because of the system you life under.

Just to be sure, is it a good idea to lock the "Prisoner's office" planets growing the xeno species, and your capitol and specialist planets growing your primary species? I know that forcing one to grow gives a bit of a reduction to pop growth but I'm just thinking it'd be a huge pain to have to check every planet for pops of the wrong type every year or so…

Does the negative happiness modifier from Noxious also affect other Noxious pops? As in, if I had the Noxious trait already built into my race, will they all be unhappy whilst living together?

The only way I could headcanon an explanation for this phenomenon is that the ruler pops emit pheromones that are somewhat unpleasant to fellow members of the species. Maybe evolution developed them that way for population/territory density purposes.
But for other species, those pheromones have a narcotic effect similar to getting high off their rockers, but somehow not diminish their cognitive and physical coordination. So essentially ruler species body odor is like gaseous opium for the lesser masses.
