The first video in the new Lines in Sand series exploring the Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops. In this video I want to explore how it was possible to gain access to the pyramid. Who got in? When? Why? We’ll go through the entrances, tunnels and anomalies in the pyramid’s exterior and then look back at the official narrative of Al Ma’mun’s tunnel.

The section for Howard Vyse blowing up the south side of the pyramid is incorrectly given the title of “Mankiller tunnel”. This was a title error made during video production. Apologies!

Great channel 👏 subbed! Do I detect a Cardiff accent?
Amazing videos, well articulated and easy to understand. Thank you for your work on these. I patiently await your next video!!!!!
The blocking stone that fell down the passageway is in the pit in the subterranean chamber
The "robbers tunnel" wasn't dug from the outside inward, but from the inside outwards to allow the removal of larger objects that were placed inside during construction and couldn't fit through the smaller original existing passageways. To think the robbers tunnel diggers just happened to magically 'hit' the correct interior position inside is ludicrous.
What's your email addy so I can send you a couple photos
Camel riding cavemen never built these? These were built by a world power civilization many many many thousands of years ago
Great video! I watch pyramid videos every day and this one is now at the top of my list!
GREAT VIDEO.. excited to see more!! good info
I've been a Khufu freak for years now. Enjoyed your video, and I have a few things for you.
It's believed due to anecdotal evidence, probably collected via early guides for tourists that the pyramid had been looted in antiquity. I think you're correct that the original entrance was the one used first. I believe the entrance was designed to be somewhat concealed but was well known and used. My personal belief is that the original door broke from overuse as It would not be designed to be opened and closed hundreds on hundreds of times.
I also think the entire confusion here is an artifact of the massive earthquake that tore most of the casing stones from the great pyramid. Perhaps someone carved the robbers tunnel because the earthquake blocked the original for a time? The earthquake, clearing of stones and repurposing of them is somewhat of a grey fog for us. Imagine if we had even one photograph from it's aftermath. The notch in my opinion, is a turning station for stones that, due to some miscalculation, drifted too close to the corner and then was dressed with casing stones only, as there wasn't enough room to enclose it with core stones as were done in the others.
This building is beautiful in how it captures our imaginations. My obsession began when I started realizing how long ago 4500 years really is.
I have my own completely fleshed out theory as to the construction and will look forward to conversing on your future videos.
Great video by the way! My take has always been that the Great Pyramids were frankly abandoned when the top casing stones were placed, the weight deemed to much and tumbled down. Therefore, the other Pyramids to follow including Kafres, were not possibly finished. I'm nuts on this. The other reasons I find that why cant our geniuses like Einstein and Hawking to their credit, could not figure out how they were built. These are unbelievably Great Minds, yet the Pyramids stumped them! Okay…off to the kookoo house! 😉😁
Nice new Channel. Good luck for growing…
What exactly did they find? Where did they hide their findings? And why?
A terrific video to start your channel. I loved it and look forward to enjoying more of your work in the future. I'm sure there are plenty more secrets the Great Pyramid has yet to give up, and it will be interesting to hear your thoughts on what some of those might be. In the meantime, I would like to congratulate the Caliph Al-Ma'mun for balancing a gigantic pumpkin on his head as evidenced by one of the images in your video 🙂
French robbers ! They used it to advance their civilization
Love it bro
No way that guys head wrap is going to fit in that tunnel.
I liked this.
However, one thing that needs to be pointed out here is, with lots of things Egyptian, you do get the " conspiracy theory" brigade as well as the more ludicrous "Ancient Aliens Regiment". People never seem to be satisfied with the actual work of qualified Egyptologists even though there's been a wealth of findings to do with "Akhet Khufu" in recent times including the oldest known papyrus recently found that tells of the transportation of stone to the pyramid site from a port on the Red Sea (" The Red Sea Scrolls,", well worth checking out. Work done by Pierre Tallet and Mark Lehner.). Back to the point though. There is always going to be speculation on things to do with Egyptian Pyramids and a lot of that speculation will be ridiculous with no sound academic foundation. The reason is actually very simple…. It is hideously difficult to do exploratory work on The Pyramids ( other than mapping or surveying) which would involve physically moving stone or drilling holes or to do anything that might possibly compromise the structure. If everyone and their dog were given permissions to do such destructive work you'd end up with no recognisable pyramid at all. It took years for permissions to be granted for The Scan Pyramids Project. All sorts of guarantees and undertakings had to be agreed to just to get work started. And THAT was completely non destructive. The Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt are extremely protective of their heritage. No wonder when you consider the plundering and destruction caused by Europeans in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th century in the name of ( what they called) "Science" ( lol). Of course, there were exceptions like Petrie etc but, there were many more who were little better than "Treasure Hunters".
So, as long as we can keep these studies on a reasonably modern scientific and educational basis I think this channel could be well worth taking note of.
Mentioning the extremely good work by Keith Hamilton is certainly a big plus.
I look forward to some serious academic studies . Hopefully without Aliens from Alpha Centauri.
Tbis is one of the best videos of the pyramids that I've come across
Robbers Tunnel is obviously an outlet, not an inlet. The chances of randomly selecting a location to enter that happens to be so near the crux of the ascending and descending channels is essentially zero.

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your video and looking forward to seeing more.

👍👍🇨🇮👍👍
What is the name of the book by Hamilton? I don’t see. “A laymen’s guide to great pyramid”
obviously just speculation, but i feel strongly that all the pyramids were robbed in the first intermediary period by people with intimate knowledge of the pyramids' construction. As to why ancient accounts don't explore the upper chambers – I don't know. But given what we know, for instance how actively the pyramids were quarried in ancient times, it doesn't make sense to me that no one would have tried to get up into the upper chambers. It does seem likely that the tunnel was dug from the inside or ar least with the knowledge of the inner layout, however what could they have wanted to remove from the pyramid? You postulate the sarcophagus' lid, which is likely to have happened, but was that reason enough to dig the tunnel?
Keep going. A nice mixture of history and conjecture.
Oh, ya he stole it. It’s in the print!
Great video, no problems subbing here, good luck with the channel, with videos like this you'll do well…
